The hotel advertises a younger, lively atmosphere, but most guests were 65+, so it’s not ideal for anyone in their 30s/40s looking for energy. We originally booked room 1302 (Elite Club) with a true oceanfront view. On our 3rd day, the door key stopped working. Maintenance said it would take 20 minutes… yet after an hour they told us they needed more parts and we had to move rooms entirely.
This took a couple of hours out of our day between waiting, packing, and relocating, which was extremely inconvenient. We were placed in room 1001, also an Elite Club room, but nowhere near the quality of what we paid for. The “ocean view” was minimal and mostly faced the other Riu building. The bar in the room was also not replenished properly. Nighttime entertainment was not great either.
Given the clear downgrade and the disruption caused by an issue outside of our control, I strongly believe we should be accommodated or compensated. The replacement room was not equivalent in value or view to the room we originally booked and paid for.
The Elite Club food and drinks were great, but overall I wouldn’t recommend this resort to guests in their 30s/40s expecting a modern, lively environment.
