the property was great, clean, friendly service. i wish they had a mini fridge in the room, the shower head had very low pressure. i wish the luggage storage area had more security. but other than that a great hotel, would recommend and stay again

The location is perfect if you're in the city for theatre. My only disappointment is one I commonly have with hotels - bathrooms ill-equipped for travelers. I don't mind small bathrooms, but they should at least have shelves and hooks wherever possible so we have somewhere to put our toiletries and hang a robe. Overall, though, it was great and I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was pretty standard nothing exciting. Good location, near Times Square. The ac is really loud and the mattress and pillows are terrible. But overall it was an okay place to stay, the location made up for it

Mom and I LOVED our two day stay. Staff were polite. Surprisingly being SO close to Times Square our room was completely sound proof. Definitely coming back again!!

We expected a noisy sleep as we chose a hotel right in Times Square so yes it was loud, but more than the people out, it was the garbage trucks that were loud! But again, expected noise right in Times Square. The location couldn’t have been more ideal for touring. The hotel itself was quite old which was expected of a boutique hotel. Wasn’t fond of the dampness in the room and the hairs that were all over our bed sheets and pillows. It felt dirty in the room, quite basic, but it did the job. Be expected to pay an early check in fee if you’d like, and to leave your luggage before check in in an unlocked room. Nice staff though.

The concierge are lovely and helpful, the building is well renovated for how old it must be and kept clean. Great dining and shopping options directly close and close-by, all extremely walkable, transit also within walking.

Great location. Rooms have been updated with new laminate flooring and are a decent size (2 double beds room) for NYC. Public areas are a bit tired looking and could use an update in carpet, wall paper and furniture. Rooms were clean but public area staircases and floors could use some attention. Light sleepers may want a room near the back of the hotel. Overall I would recommend and would stay again.

I loved staying at the St. James. So close to Times Square and perfect for exploring the city. You wake up, take a few steps and Boom! you're in the hearth of NY city. No frills but you still make good memories.

I was very happy with my stay here. I had recently read a few reviews that made me a bit nervous, but I was happy to report that my room was clean and bug-free. There were a few hairs on the comforter (I'm guessing from the cleaning team), but everything else was clean. The room was basic, but the location could not be beat! I was so thrilled with how close I was to everything. The front staff was very nice and accommodating. I made a mistake with my non-refundable booking at Expedia, and my husband and it took two weeks for us to get ahold of the manager. We always were told "call back in 15 minutes" or another day. However, once we were able to get ahold of them they were kind enough to correct my booking. I will definitely stay here again because the price and location can't be beat.
