The aircondition had a loud high pitch hum as of someone was using a floor buffer right by my bed. Couldn't be turned off. Did not sleep the whole night. Worst night ever in a hotel.

Overall great stay!
For being an older hotel (we last stayed there like 12yrs ago), they seem to have done a great job of keeping things up to date. Every thing seemed clean and well-maintained, smelled clean, room was very nice. Having young kids that don't know how to walk softly, it was really nice that floors seemed to be thicker, so you couldn't hear them running around in the room. The pool was small but kept up well and clean. Kids had a great time in it. Breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of food choices, including actually good/soft biscuits (versus the hockey pucks you get elsewhere) and gravy with and without sausage. Ice coffee in the dispenser alongside the juice was nice. So eggs, biscuits and gravy, and diced potatoes...I was a happy camper. Parking is expensive, $20/night. Was not happy about that. But otherwise, we enjoyed our time there, and we enjoyed being pretty darn close to the beach.

All the cold water valves, sink and tub/shower, put out water that was too hot to be able to hold my hand in. And it stayed that way for a few minutes before finally beginning to cool, and even then, it stayed warm. I was able to get the water reasonably comfortable, but when I diverted from the tub spout to the shower, the water was again too hot coming from the shower. Discovered that apparently the whole floor may have been that way because other people said they had the same issue.

Best Western Hotel, Corpus Christi, Texas
The Best Western Hotel in downtown Corpus Christi is a wonderful location. Downtown is filled with beautiful buildings, and a large boat marina is just across the street in Corpus Christi Bay. The Gulf is about 10 miles to the east, but there is a beach on the bay less than a mile from the hotel. The hot breakfast served on the twelfth floor is amazing.

We had to check out a day earlier because I couldn’t sleep due to the loud A/C. I was expecting the noise to die down but it did not. It was not the gentler “white noise” we usually expect, but it was a constant loud sound.

I'll start with the good. The room "appeared" clean, and the breakfast staff and food were excellent. Beyond that, there was much to be desired. The staff were not particularly hospitable, one woman quite rude, one woman hiding behind the desk and hoping someone else would assist us, and one maintenance worker who seemed more preoccupied with his funny cigarettes than doing his job. The front desk employee who checked us in didn't offer any assistance with where to find luggage carts or where to locate the elevator, when check out time was, where to park, or any of the common information one expects when arriving. The $20/day parking fee was also a surprise, as it was not mentioned in the booking. We waited over half an hour after the pool opening time before the maintenance guy could be bothered to come open the doors. And once inside, the pool was also filthy. The water was so murky, green, and had an odd, almost faint sewage smell as well as huge balls of human hair floating in it. Disgusting. Ironic considering the reason he gave for his tardiness was that he was checking the chemicals in the pool. The showers in the room flooded the floors all the way into the hallway every time we showered. Upon mopping up the water that had seeped to the edge of the carpet, it was clear the floors had not been cleaned in eons. Elevators rickety too. Not sure what all the other good reviewers saw in this place. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to stay. Avoid this dump.
