Montreal is a large, global city, attracting many visitors from Canada and around the world every year. International flights to Montreal will land at Dorval Airport, also known as Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. Bus routes from Dorval Airport are available on 24-hour and overnight schedules, running to major downtown stations and Metro lines. With the large volume of flights to Montreal coming in from the United States, Dorval has implemented a separate U.S. Pre-clearance Terminal in the international arrivals department. Rail shuttles also operate between the airport and the downtown core, allowing passengers arriving from the Montreal flights to travel to their downtown destinations quickly and easily. A Marriott Hotel is attached to the airports near the U.S. departures terminal.

Montreal Weather

Seasons change drastically in Montreal. December is the best time to catch all of the city's holiday festivities and beautiful decorations. Winters are especially cold throughout mid-January and February, when temperatures can fall below -30C, so make room for a parka and warm boots. The streets are filled with slush around March and April, and the spring is very rainy. The best time to book flights to Montreal is between June and October, when temperatures will range from around 14C to 30C, and the streets are filled with entertainment and curious locals and tourists. Montreal's autumn season is also especially beautiful.

Getting Around Montreal

Montreal is famous for its extensive Metro system, connecting the city center with the outlying metropolitan districts and the vast suburbs. It is possible to navigate great parts of the city entirely underground, passing through its indoor malls and extensive networks of halls. There are also many buses and taxis that service all of the major tourist, business, and university districts, as well as the residential areas. Driving in Montreal can be confusing in the city, and the Metro is the best choice for tourists. Cyclists will love Montreal for the famous network of segregated bicycle lines. Walking is very enjoyable in the downtown area, and there are many parks and streets built especially for pedestrians. St. Helene's Island is connected via the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, which is accessed by cars, cyclists, pedestrians, or public transit.
