"We truly enjoyed our 3 weeks at Villa Fortuna in Costa Montana near the town of Tarcoles along the Pacific Coast in Costa Rica. Costa Montana is a gated community with 24/7 security. The views are breathtaking! All 3 bedrooms overlook the Pacific Ocean and the rainforest below. The drive up the mountain is not for the faint of heart. It is STEEP - a 4 wheel drive is an absolute must. The last section up to Villa Fortuna is a 22 degree grade with 3 switchbacks. If you like to walk be prepared for very steep inclines. The house is very comfortable with 3 floors, 3 large and comfortable bedrooms (with a 4th small overflow bedroom). Breakfast at the outdoor table just off the kitchen was our opportunity to see toucans/macaws. The Sonos sound system which feeds music to the pool, den or family room was excellent. The BBQ area was perfect for eat at home nights. We requested a cleaner to come in weekly and she was excellent and very affordable. The pool and patio overlooking the Pacific and rainforest below were the absolute highlight of our stay. Not everything in the write up is accurate. There is no fresh fruit on the property as stated. There are a number of typos. There is only 1 bathroom (not 2) serving two bedrooms on the third floor. The property does not have a direct sunset view - the sun sets behind the rainforest. "We stayed for one night in chalet no.1 and loved it. The property is well appointed and pretty isolated with a lovely outlook over the Gulf of Nicoya. Being close to the River Tárcoles and Carara NP, there is plenty of wildlife and we saw scarlet macaws flying overhead in the evening. Laura met us at the entrance and showed us round our chalet which was clean and quite luxurious with two large beds, kitchenette, large bathroom with pleasant, natural views yet private and secluded, and a patio fully across the front and side with a clean, cooling plunge pool, loungers, tables and chairs. Other reviews have criticised lack of cleanliness, hot water and reliable wi-fi but we had no problem with any of these. Because there are only a handful of chalets here, there is no bar, café or restaurant nearby so we self-catered, though there's a variety of options in Tárcoles (a short drive away) most of which offer online ordering and delivery. The location is fairly quiet, but traffic on the main coast road can be heard during the day at varying levels of intensity. Akua Suites was the perfect final night for our Costa Rican tour. We got up early for a 2-hour birdwatching tour in Carara Park but we still had time afterwards to get a reasonably priced breakfast at the Crocodile Bridge and return to pack up before leaving the property shortly after 11am. "

"We had an amazing time during our stay at Casa Cięło! The road to the house is very steep, but we had clear directions from Diana and the drive was worth it for the views! We saw monkeys some days and beautiful birds every day. It was so easy to set up excursions with their reservation team. We enjoyed the dinner from the private chef, loved ziplining/ATV tour at the adventure park and had a great time going to Tortuga island. The house was set up perfectly for our group of 6, and there was still an extra bedroom downstairs. Everything was clean and we really enjoyed the pool everyday! "
