Two beltways in Lexington intersect I-64 and I-75 outside the city limits. Transportation options include the city-owned LexTran public transit bus system that has routes throughout the metropolis. The local Blue Grass Airport (LEX), located on Highway 60, offers regularly scheduled commercial flights. Hotels can be found within the center of Lexington, as well as along Interstate 64.

Hints and tips

The original Lexington settlement consisted only of a blockhouse, cabins and a stockade. However, by the beginning of the 19th century, the city became the largest and most prosperous community west of the Allegheny Mountain range. The community hosts a number of fun-filled events that include arts and crafts fairs from May through August. June is the month for outdoor concerts, and the Christmas Parade takes place after Thanksgiving. Traditional Kentucky cuisine found in the region, includes the Hot Brown open-faced turkey sandwich, burgoo game stew, beer cheese and bourbon balls.
