Off to a Rocky Start

Based out of Memphis, Tennessee, the Memphis Express are one of the founding members of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). The team plays all their home games at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in the Mid-town area of Memphis. The team was one of the first to be announced to the Eastern Conference back in the spring of 2018, and by the summer they began to take shape with a name, logo, as well as a full team. With Memphis the “World Headquarters” for FedEx, the team got their name as a tribute to the mail and cargo giant. The plane imagery within their logo is also representative of this relationship the city has with the mailing industry. In January of 2019 the Express made a quick trip down to San Antonio, where the roster was finalized after a couple weeks of training camp. The Express played their first game on February 10^th, 2019 against the Birmingham Iron, a game in which they were shut out 26-0. The team’s home opener was also a big letdown, with the Express losing to the Arizona Hotshots with a score of 18-20. Still new to the league, the Memphis Express have a lot to prove in the upcoming 2019 AAF season!
