Milwaukee General Mitchell (MKE) is the only airport in all of Wisconsin and Illinois that is serviced by all three major airlines and it can be easily reached by Highway 794 and Highway 38. Flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int (ATL) take between two and four hours and upon arrival, you’ll be 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, with Interstates I-75 and I-85 the major transportation routes nearby.
Attractions and tips
The SkyView is an enormous Ferris Wheel situated in Centennial Park, which commands a panoramic view of the city, and Turner Field is home to the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. Families will enjoy the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta, both having excellent wildlife exhibits. The city offers a CityPass discount admission ticket to the five most popular attractions in the city, including the zoo and aquarium mentioned already, plus the World of Coca-Cola, the Inside CNN Studio Tour and the High Museum of Art. Those interested in history will appreciate a visit to Martin Luther King National Historic Site, which takes in his birthplace and site of his ministry.
Even though ATL is a huge airport, passenger travel freely between terminals on the Automated People Mover (APM), which is a sophisticated rail system. The airport is also serviced by eight domestic airlines and seven international airlines, which is one reason why ATL is one of the largest airports in the United States.
