Attractions
The capital city of Greece is one of the most culturally and historically significant locations in the world, not to mention one of the world's oldest cities, with its history spanning back at least 3,400 years. World-renowned sites include Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Agora, the Temple of Hephaestus, Erechtheion, the Theatre of Dionysus, the Stoa of Attalos, Pnyx and the Arch of Hadrian.
Hints and tips
Athens' subtropical Mediterranean climate means a bit of temperature variation through the year, with a low average of 49 degrees in January, and a high average of 83 degrees in July and August. While the area gets a moderate amount of rain from late fall to early spring, the summer months are mostly dry and might be the best time to visit if you like warmer weather.
