Cheap flights from New York to Cape Town
New York John F Kennedy International (JFK) Airport is only about 15 miles away from downtown Manhattan. While it is possible to drive, expect to run into some traffic. Consider the subway or the Long Island Rail Road as a convenient alternative. Flight times are usually about 11 hours to Cape Town International (CPT) Airport, only a little more than 12 miles from Cape Town. You can take a bus, a taxi or a car from the airport to your intended destination.
Attractions and Tips
Cape Town is nestled around a ring of mountains and there are plenty of outdoor activities from which to choose. One of the most recognized landmarks of Cape Town is Table Mountain. You have the option to take the hike up to the top or take the Ariel Cableway to make the trip a little easier. These cable cars offer some of the best views of the area. Camps Bay is near the mountain and offers soft sand with a few places to enjoy a meal along the way. While sitting out in the sun is great, the water is much too cold to enjoy.
Spring and fall tend to be great times to visit because the weather is beautiful and the crowds lessen. Interestingly, the seasons here are reversed so while places like the U.S. are enjoying summer, it is winter in Cape Town.
