Attractions and Tips
The Mission Trail includes the most important surviving Spanish missions and is a great way for tourists to learn about the state's past. The Guadalupe Mountains National Park contains exotic western creatures like javelinas, golden eagles and desert amphibians. The impressive rock formation El Capitan has been a tourist attraction for many years in the Park.
The Tigua Indian Cultural Center provides visitors with educational talks, a museum and native crafts and food dishes to help educate about native lifestyles. The El Paso Zoo offers exhibits from all around the world, including those from Asia, Africa and the Americas. Fort Bliss was built in 1848 and served as a Confederate outpost in the Civil War but is now an Army Air Defense Center.
El Paso only averages about 10 inches of rainfall every year, so precipitation is a non-factor for the city. Temperatures can dip to freezing or below during winter months, but generally stay well above it. During summer, temperatures will often be above 90 degrees with low humidity.
