Getting the groove on in Atlanta

Started in 1995, Jagged Edge was on the vanguard of the Atlanta R&B scene. Jagged Edge got their big break when Kandi Burruss of Xscape introduced them to Jermaine Dupri, who brought them onto his So So Def label. In 1997 they released Jagged Era, which featured the hit single "I Gotta Be," written by identical twins Brandon and Brian Casey. Still, it wasn't until 2000's J.E. Heartbreak that the group experienced their jump to mainstream success, with singles like "Let's Get Married" and "He Can't Love U" becoming radio hits. Immediately following on this success was 2001's Jagged Little Thrill, featuring the hit song "Where the Party At." From 2000 to 2003, Jagged Edge was nominated for several awards at the Grammys, the BET Awards, and the American Music Awards. For their following albums, they started collaborating with other musical juggernauts, including Ashanti, Rick Ross, and Gucci Mane. In 2017, Jagged Edge released their ninth studio album, Layover. It was their first album in three years, but it kept up the band's tradition of soulful hit music.
