History
The Illini football team originated at the University of Illinois in 1890. In the early years when just starting to gain notoriety the noted quarterback, Scott Williams also served as the head coach. Early coaches Williams, Lackey, and Hall kept leading this team through winning seasons until George Huff succeeding Louis Vail, led the team to its first Big Ten Conference in the late 1800s. Next to take the coaching reins was Arthur Hall who also led this team to immense victories until 1912. The string of winning victories for the Illini shows in the fact that the team has five national championships and fifteen Big Ten Championships. In spite of a couple of scandals in this team's history the team continued to thrive and win. At one point in history, twenty-nine season Coach Zuppke continued to lead the team to victory after victory. Coach Zuppke was responsible for increasing attendance at games from about 20,000 to over 60,000 fans in attendance. All college teams go through periods of slumps. However, the Illini always victoriously recovers to gain wins once again. It would be too bad missing out on another winning Illini season by not buying your cheap Fighting Illini Football tickets as soon as possible.
Rivals
As with all teams, there are rivals. The Illini football team considers at least three college football teams as their rivals. Within the Big Ten Conference they rival with Purdue, Ohio State, and Northwestern. These teams are considered as rivals because they are found in much the same level playing field. In other words, they seem to be equal to the Fighting Illini Football team. 1910 to 2001 saw the Illumi won fifteen Conference Championships in the Big Ten Conference.
