Inspired by a Miles Davis recording of "My Funny Valentine," Chris Botti started pursuing the trumpet seriously at twelve years old. He first performed at Carnegie Hall when he was just a teenager as part of the All American High School Jazz Band. As a young artist, he toured with Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich before moving to New York City. He worked with Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, and other superstars. He released his solo debut record, First Wish, in 1995. In 1999 he went on tour with Sting, which boosted his profile. In 2001 he released Night Sessions, achieving crossover success. He has managed to bring together fans of jazz and pop with his unique approach to the trumpet. In 2007 he took a delightful detour into his Italian heritage with Italia, an album that earned him his first Grammy nomination. He secured his first Grammy Award win with his 2013 album, Impressions.
