About Bruce Springsteen
Born on Sept. 23, 1949, in Long Branch, New Jersey, rock star Bruce Springsteen fell in love with music after seeing Elvis Presley perform on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and after receiving a guitar for his 16th birthday, he began to play. Springsteen's upbringing in a working-class household wasn't always easy, however, and he credits his difficult and oftentimes tumultuous relationship with his father for inspiring the lyrics of his early music. After narrowly avoiding being drafted into the Vietnam war, Springsteen began to play at various bars throughout New Jersey, often performing at small gigs and venues, where cheap tickets were easy to come by.
During the late 1960's, Springsteen continued to play on the singer-songwriter circuit throughout the New Jersey shore. Springsteen mingled with an array of musicians, some of whom would later become a part of his E Street Band. Springsteen's big break into the music industry came in 1972, after he signed with Columbia records. He released the album Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ, which proved popular with critics, but less so with the general public. Sales were slow, despite many comparing his work to the likes of Bob Dylan. However, things changed dramatically in 1975, after the release of his third studio album, Born to Run. The album was a commercial and critical success, reaching No.3 on the Billboard 200. Building off the success of the third album, Springsteen released album number four in 1978 and subsequently embarked on a nationwide tour with his E Street band. Fans became desperate to get their hands on Bruce Springsteen tickets and the shows became infamous for their wild and exuberant energy. Springsteen reached new levels of fame and adoration after the 1984 release of his signature album, Born in the U.S.A. The compilation became one of the best-selling albums of all time and seven of the singles charted in the Billboard Top 10. The success of Born in the U.S.A solidified Springsteen's status as a musical great and another phenomenally successful world- tour followed.
In total, Springsteen has released 18 albums, many of which have received universal acclaim. Adoring fans cite a number of reasons for their love of Springsteen: His poetic lyrics, inspired by human issues such as love, loss, working class struggle and politics, are the primary reason why Springsteen garnered a devoted following and why he remains something of an American cultural icon. Politics are especially important to Springsteen and he has been involved in a number of liberal causes. His album The Rising dealt with the pain and anguish caused by the September 11 terrorist attacks, and many tracks on his 2007 album Magic serve as criticism of the Iraq War. In terms of party affiliation, Springsteen remains a passionate Democrat and strongly advocated for the election of President Barack Obama in 2008. Springsteen hasn't slowed down in recent years, releasing two new albums since 2012, Wrecking Ball and High Hopes, and it's clear that Springsteen will continue to remain one of America's most famous and beloved rock and roll figures. With a number of future shows in the offing, fans should act fast to get their hands on cheap Bruce Springsteen tickets!
