While Ari Shaffir had a growing interest in comedy from a young age, inspired by comedy showcase shows, it wasn't until after college that he took the leap into the industry for himself. After moving to Los Angeles post-graduation, Shaffir began working at The Comedy Store in a purely administrative way, first answering phones. He finally managed to work himself onto the stage, and nearly five years after he first arrived he was a regular at the venue. His popularity exploded with his YouTube videos, The Amazing Racist, and he gained more notoriety through his appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. In 2011 he started his own podcast, Skeptic Tank, where he interviews guests with unique stories and delves into their experiences. Personal stories are Shaffir's drug of choice, and in 2013 he produced a special web series, This is Not Happening, showcasing comedians dishing on their own lives. His first special, Revenge for the Holocaust, was released the following year, kick-starting years of prolific touring and recording.
