History
In 1995 the NBA expanded their reach further into North America by granting two Canadian cities expansion teams. The Toronto Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies became the first two NBA teams outside of the United States. Eventually the Grizzlies would relocate to Memphis before the start of the 2001-2002 season, leaving the Raptors as the sole Canadian NBA team. The Raptors started their inaugural season off to a rocky start, winning only 21 of their games. They continued to struggle to find their footing in a league that had been already dominated by star teams and players for years. In the 1998 NBA Draft the Raptors decided to trade their fourth overall pick to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Vince Carter. After the acquisition of Vince Carter in 1998, the team set league attendance records and made the NBA playoffs in 2000, 2001, and 2002. After being plagued by a series of injuries to nearly all of their star players, the Toronto Raptors experienced for the first time in a long time a significant drop in their overall performance. Ultimately in 2004 the Raptors traded Vince Carter off, giving the younger players an opportunity to rise to stardom. For the next decade the Raptors would go through bouts of success and turmoil, but they never brought home anything more than division titles. During the 2018-2019 season the Raptors did a complete overhaul of their roster adding the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Marc Gasol and Jeremy Lin. Fans were excited to have the new editions to the team and have been eager to see them continue!
Scotiabank Arena
The Toronto Raptors originally got their start playing at the SkyDome, also known as the Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto. In 1999 the team relocated their arena to the Scotiabank Arena located in the South Core district of downtown Toronto. The Raptors share the arena with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL as well as the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League. At every game you can expect that the stands be filled to full capacity as thousands cheer on the Raptors. Although the arena is mainly home to professional sports, they also host their fair share of concerts! Some notable performers who have taken the stage at the Scotiabank Arena include Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Joel, Cher, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, and Elton John.

Toronto playing in Tampa for 2020-2021 NBA season
Regional restrictions have forced the Raptors to look elsewhere to play the 2020-2021 NBA season. Instead of starting the 2020 NBA season in Toronto, ON at there home in Scotiabank Arena, anyone seeking Toronto Raptors tickets will need to plan on seeing the Toronto team play at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL, home of the 2020 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. With Tampa's warmer winter climate, the Raptors aren't really complaining and also hope this gives them the opportunity to play in front of fans and travel to other NBA arenas throughout the U.S., without the same border restrictions in 2020 and early 2021 between the U.S. and Canada.
