About Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights play within the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. Las Vegas has long been known as the place for any and every form of entertainment, but it wasn't until recently that it secured its very own National Hockey League team. Whether you're a local hockey fan or in town for the weekend, pick up your cheap Vegas Golden Knights tickets here for a hair-raising adrenaline rush!
History of the Vegas Golden Knights
Las Vegas was already a hot destination for ice hockey fans, as every year the NHL Awards ceremony is held in the city. But it wasn't until 2014 that hockey fans started to buzz about a possible Las Vegas NHL team. Billionaire Bill Foley spearheaded the effort to show the league that there was sufficient interest in Vegas for an expansion team. By 2015 he had sold enough season tickets to secure entrance into the next round of the approval process, and the next year the league owners gave him the go-ahead to start the team. In 2016 the team name was unveiled, making the Vegas Golden Knights the city's first professional sports team. Veteran players like Marc-Andre Fleury and James Neal joined the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL drafts as part of a promising roster for the young team.
The Golden Knights rose quickly to success, breaking many league records along the way. They finished their inaugural season with 82 points, breaking the NHL record for most points for an expansion team in their inaugural season. In March of 2018, the Golden Knights clinched a spot in the playoffs as well as they won the Pacific Division title. Both events breaking records held by NHL expansion teams. In the first round of the playoffs they swept the Los Angeles Kings, becoming the first team to sweep a team in their first ever playoff series. The Golden Knights quickly progressed through the playoffs soon finding themselves in the finals facing off with the Washington Capitals. Their great success came crashing down though when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup only after five games played.
The Vegas Golden Knights Arena
The Golden Knights play all their home games at T-Mobile Arena, located along the strip of Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. The arena broke ground in 2014 but opened for business in April of 2016. It is mainly known for hosting events such as concerts, and sporting events, but they are more recently known for being the home arena for the Golden Knights.
Rivalries
Because of the team being new to the league the Golden Knights do not have many rivals. Their main one being solely based on geographical location. The Arizona Coyotes play near the team, making them a natural rival. The Golden Knights fans would also argue that the Washington Capitals are a main rival for the team, as they eliminated them in the Stanley Cup Final in 2018. A rematch between these two teams would be one that you do not want to miss!
