Franchise History

The Toronto Blue Jays were founded in 1977 and are currently the only MLB team based outside of the United States. Toronto's first ever game was one to remember, as they beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 during a snowstorm! Typical of an expansion team, the Blue Jays struggled to break through their first couple of years. Despite a rocky start, the team quickly flipped their switch and recorded their first winning season in 1983. This sparked the Blue Jays becoming an AL East powerhouse, winning five out of nine division championships from 1985 to 1993. They took two World Series titles during that team as well, led by legends like Roberto Alomar, Joe Carter and Devon White. They are the fastest AL expansion team to appear in and win a World Series, taking only 16 years. The Blue Jays have been quiet since dominating an era but have been improving their performance as of 2015. Their prospects are looking better than ever for the upcoming season, so it won't be surprising to see some huge numbers coming out of the franchise. Want to see for yourself? Then grab your cheap Toronto Blue Jays tickets on CheapTickets right now and make your way to Rogers Centre!

Rogers Centre

The Jays have had several home field changes since their founding. After starting off at Exhibition Stadium, the team began playing home games at the SkyDome in 1989. In 2000, Rogers Communications bought the Franchise as well as the SkyDome, and renamed it to Rogers Centre. There is a Renaissance Toronto Hotel within Rogers Centre as well, featuring 70 rooms with a view overlooking the field.

Intense Rivalries

Until 2004, The Montreal Expos were geographically the Blue Jay's biggest rival. Until 1986, the two teams would participate in a midseason exhibition game called the Pearson Cup. The Seattle Mariners are also high on the list. Many loyal western Canadian (Vancouver) Blue Jays fans will make the 3-hour trek to Seattle. The Seattle Times estimated that in June 2017, Blue Jays fans made up 70% of Safeco Field at a weekend game.

The Blue Jays are making strategies and building up a strong foundation for the upcoming season. If all goes well, this season could be very promising! Do you want to witness the action for yourself? Then get your cheap tickets to the Toronto Blue Jays 2024 season today! Play ball!
