History
The team is based in Denver, Colorado at the Ball Arena, and was founded in 1967 as a part of the American Basketball Association. Though the team hasn’t made a championship appearance since their pre-NBA days, they have obtained 10 division titles and have had several Hall of Fame Players featured on their roster. During the early 1990s, the team was led by center Dikembe Mutombo from Georgetown University, who quickly became the team’s leading force on both offense and defense. Starting in 2003, the signing of NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson formed an unstoppable duo. The two powerhouse players led the Nuggets to a 50-win season in 2007-2008. Currently, you can see great players like Nikola Jokic, Garry Harris, and Paul Millsap run the court. The Nuggets have attracted a dedicated fanbase and tickets are often hard to come by. Rivalries
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the biggest rivals for the Denver Nuggets. They have competed against the Lakers many times including two Western Conference Finals in 1985 and 2009. Although they have yet to beat the Lakers in a play-off series, they never back down on the court. Utah Jazz is another top competitor for the Denver Nuggets. Both teams have had their enormous wins and strengths, but they rarely are extremely successful at the same time. The Nuggets are still a thrilling team to watch, going up against their rivals or not. Check out their talents on the court.
Pepsi Center
