About Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers play their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, competing in the NFC South division. Fans who purchase Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets are surely excited to see a team on the rise with a steady offensive line and a much-improved quarterback.
History of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay was awarded the first expansion franchise following the 1970 merger of the AFL and NFL. The team first competed in the AFC West in 1976, but the Bucs were moved the following year to the NFC Central Division before eventually joining the NFC South during league realignment.
Tony Dungy became the Bucs head coach in 1997, and the team immediately made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, increasing sales of Tampa Buccaneers tickets. Some of Dungy's success was attributed to the development of the Tampa two defense that is loosely based on defensive alignments he developed while coaching for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2002, when coach Jon Gruden led the team to a victory in Super Bowl XXXLII, he became the youngest coach ever to chalk up a Super Bowl victory. His slogan that season was "Pound the Rock," a reference to never giving up. Gruden also led the team to divisional titles in 2005 and 2007.
As of 2019, Jameis Winston became the Bucs all-time passing leader, throwing 121 touchdowns and over 19,700 yards during his 4-year career as the quarterback. However, history was made in the 2020-2021 season as an old-but-new all-star joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won the Super Bowl on the team's home turf, becoming the oldest player to win a Super Bowl and win the most Super Bowls. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady signed on to the Bucs as their new quarterback in 2020 and won in his first season on the team. Although Tom Brady had been with the New England Patriots for 20 seasons, he made an exciting career change with the Bucs that fans were just as excited about! Also breaking headlines for the Buccaneers during the off-season was the announcement of former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski coming out of retirement to join his former quarterback on the field. With Brady and Gronk once again on a field together, Bucs fans do not want to miss a game!
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium
In 1998, Raymond James Stadium replaced Tampa Stadium as the home of the Buccaneers. The facility is considered one of the best stadiums in the NFL. In their first game there, the Tampa Bay Bucs scored 27 unanswered points to defeat the Chicago Bears. The stadium hosts a wide variety of events, including NCAA football games, equestrian show jumping and monster truck shows. Although the stadium seats 65,890 fans for Tampa Bay Bucs games, more than 72,000 fans attended a U2 concert at the stadium in 2009.
