Demigods of the Thrash Metal Movement
Megadeth got its start when guitarist Dave Mustaine was let go from Metallica. Mustaine teamed up with bassist David Ellefson to start Megadeth. In 1985, after blowing half their recording budget on drugs, alcohol, and food, Megadeth released Killing is My Business... And Business is Good! The record became an underground metal hit. Megadeth became famous for their technical skill, touring with bands like Alice Cooper and performing for hundreds of thousands of fans. However, the band was plagued with substance abuse problems, drugs and alcohol interfering with performances and recordings. In 1990 Rust in Peace was the first album that Megadeth recorded completely sober, resulting in a critically acclaimed record. After a brief hiatus taken so that Mustaine could recover from an arm injury, Megadeth returned in full force, the lineup slightly altered. In 2005 Megadeth organized their own metal festival, Gigantour. Even though their music is controversial, with lyrics focusing on dark themes such as death, war, and politics, Megadeth has sold over 50 million records.
As pioneers of thrash, along with Anthrax, Slayer, and Metallica, Megadeth has devoted followers all around the world. Don't get shut out from one of their electric and bombastic shows! Snag your cheap Megadeth tickets today!
