Super Bowl XXXVIII
In 2004 Justin Timberlake performed at the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Janet Jackson. Prior to the Super Bowl, NSYNC opened for Janet Jackson on her “Velvet Rope Tour” numerous times. The tour took place from April 16, 1998 until January 30, 1999. During this time the groups grew close. When NFL decided that Janet Jackson would be the halftime performer show she wanted to bring other performers along with her. She ended up choosing Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, Nelly, and Kid Rock. During the halftime show there was a wardrobe malfunction in which Janet Jackson was exposed caused by Justin. CBS who televised the event was fined over $500,000 by the FCC for the incident.
Super Bowl LII
Justin Timberlake made a reappearance at the Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL has chosen him to perform at the Super Bowl for 2018. He sang some of his most popular songs and a song from his new album that was released two days prior to the halftime show.
In 2017, he was featured in a Super Bowl commercial with Christopher Walken, where the two made a reference to one of NSYNC’s old songs. The 2018 Super Bowl is schedule to be played at U.S. Bank Stadium. The stadium is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
2018 Album – ‘Man of the Woods’
Justin Timberlake released a new album on February 2, 2018 which was two days before the Super Bowl. Justin stated, “This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any album I’ve ever written, where I’m from — it’s personal.” In the announcement video there is a quick shot of Pharrell Williams beside him. This will be the first album Justin has released in 5 years. The last album he released was “The 20/20 Experience,” which he released in the beginning of 2013.
Acting Career
Timberlake has experienced stardom in many different outlets. He has been known for his musical performances with NSYNC and his solo acts. He is also known for his musical features in the cinemas. He is credited with over 130 movie soundtracks according to IMBD.com. He is not only credited for his musical addition to films, he has also 69 film credits. While many of those credits are cameos, most recently The Lonely Island’s movie “Popstar.” He has starred in multiple films, but was most known for the roles in which he was the leading actor. He had a leading role in, “In Time,” co-starring with Amanda Seyfried, he also had a leading role in, “Friends with Benefits,” co-starring with Mila Kunis.
