Rise to Fame
Blake Shelton was born in Ada, Oklahoma on June 18, 1976. Growing up in a small country town, Blake began singing early on in his life. By the time that he was twelve years old his uncle had taught him how to play the guitar. At the age of fifteen he wrote his first song, and two years later after graduating high school he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. Upon his arrival to Nashville, Shelton got a job with a music publishing company where he met Bobby Braddock who helped him sign a contract with Sony Music. In 2001, Shelton released his first self-titled debut album featuring the hit single “Austin”. The single remained number one on the charts for five consecutive weeks and the album later became certified platinum, selling over one million copies!
After years of struggling to gain mainstream attention, his debut album sky rocketed him to fame. Since its release Blake has released eleven studio albums, had thirteen number one hits on Billboard Hot Country Songs, and has had thirty singles make the top ten on Billboard Hot Country Songs. Blake has also won over 94 awards including five Academy of Country Music Awards, eight American Country Awards and two American Music Awards. Also included in his long list of achievements is his induction into the Grand Ole Opry back in 2010. In November 2018 Shelton earned the honor of being named Favorite Country Artist by the People’s Choice Awards. In addition, in the same year he was named the CMT Music Awards Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year with his chart-topping single “I’ll Name the Dogs.”
The Voice
Blake Shelton stars alongside other musical legends such as Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson as a coach on NBC’s competition show The Voice. Being on the show since its creation in 2011, Shelton has won six out of the fourteen seasons. Shelton is known for working alongside his protégés throughout their musical journey on and off the show. Some of the more well-known ones being season three winner Cassadee Pope, season four winner Danielle Bradbery, and season 13 winner Chloe Kohanski.
Friends and Heroes 2020 Tour
Shelton was on tour with The Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson, and Trace Adkins, with a special guest of Lauren Alaina in late 2019 and early 2020. He performed one show in mid-November 2019 in Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and one show in late January at the Choctaw Grand Theater in Durant, OK. After these, he went on to play several more shows all throughout February and March. During this time, he performed in Nashville, Portland, Fresno, Salt Lake City, Denver, Milwaukee, and several more!
