Situated right next to York train station which was wonderful check in was friendly and room service available if required wish I could have had the time to use all the facilites on offer but just stayed overnight. Breakfast paid for in advance lots of choice and friendly staff. Visited York in order to spend the day at the Train Museum with family which was just a 15 minute walk away through the station.
Very disappointed with my room compared to previous times staying at the hotel.
Pokey little room in the basement which was nowhere near value for money when you're paying in excess of £300 a night and have booked multiple rooms.
The bathroom wasn't anything special by the high standards of the hotel and frankly looked like a cheap fit out.
An impressive old hotel close to the rail station and about 10 mins walk from the Minster.
Booked at the last minute on a bucket site, so for the price the room was OK, just located in the furthest part of the hotel, close to the railway and the Royal Mail offices so was a bit noisy.
Didn't use the bars and restaurant so cant comment, but all the public areas were beautifully decorated and clean.
Car parking was extra, but convenient to the hotel.
The room was in a wing. Very very tired. The entrance area near room smells. Outside the window was a post office sorting office very noisy early in the morning. On check out was not asked how my stay was so did not pass on my disappointment
The hotel was brilliant from start to finish. The staff were very friendly & helpful & had even given us an upgrade on our room for my birthday before we even arrived. Breakfast was delicious & the location of the hotel is perfect for walking into the city.
Fancy common areas - lots of big mirrors, nice lighting and huge staircase; very convenient location if travelling to York via train and an easy walk into town; swimming pool and sauna area were good. Room was a little stuffy and there was noise from the station and creaky water pipes, but overall a good stay.
Didn't know I had to pay to park. 19 pound a night. Had to move rooms 3 times because of noise, roadworks outside window. Same in next room. 3rd room was better. Other than that it was lovely.
