Cannot fault the staff or restaurant, but on arrival 1st room given wasn't made up, 2nd was next to the lift and noisy, and had problems with the door cards and had to replace it 4 times in a 3 night stay. Not what I usually get from a holiday inn unfortunately

Very poor experience, room sub standard and unclean. Mould in bathroom and shower, toilet dirty. Police cans positioned at front and to rear of hotel. Asked about this but told by receptionist this was not linked to recent events. Very unsettling. Only stated one night and won’t return.

Hotel experience good. Question re price disparity
We booked via the Hotels.com website for 3 nights including breakfast. Out experience at the hotel itself was good overall. Plenty of car parking but remember to enter your reg details on a terminal in reception. Our room was an adequate size and met our needs albeit the shower/toilet area was somewhat small. The buffet breakfast was excellent but the evening menu was more limited and we only ate there once during our stay. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The city centre was a 20 minute walk but there was a regular bus service just outside if you didn't want to drive. I had used the credit that I had accumulated in my One Key loyalty account to make the booking via the Hotels.com website. I was somewhat disappointed when I was given a printed bill on checkout that showed we had actually paid Hotels.com £68 more for our stay than was shown on our bill. I questioned this discrepancy with customer services at Hotels.com who answered my query promptly with a form of explanation but no restitution was offered. It seems that this is the profit margin for using their on line booking service. In future I will check the cost of booking a hotel with the hotel directly before using the Hotels.com app. You live and learn as they say.

Hotel is very dated, poor service in reception, charged twice for room, not sure it’s been sorted yet, but no apology given, just a very matter of fact attitude. Rooms at £215 per night as races were on excessively over priced . Remote control for TV was also missing

Modern bar and dining area - drinks quite expensive but on par with other hotels - prob the best breakfast we have ever had good quality produce - sausage and black pudding delicious and quality bread - fresh pineapple ! Coffee machine a let down and maybe pots of tea to be offered to cut down the queue Room was ok, tiny bathroom but manageable for one night - never been a lover of carpet in hotel rooms - was quiet once everyone had gone to bed as room was near the lift Staff were really attentive in all areas from bar to reception to the maids Will stay again for an overnight stay

The stay was very nice, but the only problem was getting woken up at 6am to a lorry outside the window unloading the washing. This went on for around 2 hours. Consistent noise. Even with the window closed it was very loud and we was u able to sleep after this. Not something you want when you had a nice night. But wake up this and then cannot get back to sleep.

Lovely but not lovely stay
We had to move rooms at 12:00 at night due to a noise (sounded like a fog horn) possibly coming from a maintenance room next door. The single padded chair had what looked like a urine stain on it The quilt was a single quilt in in a double quilt cover on a double bed The staff were lovely though and happy to help and once they were alerted to the issue moved us very quickly. As it was my husband’s birthday when we arrived we were given 2 complimentary drinks. We were also able to check in early, it’s just a shame the room was not up to standard

Noisy all night as if someone playing with a football over the head- didnt sleep, linen looked used- slept on. The pillows smelt of tobacco. No room slippers, carpet sticky
