The hotel and room were nice in general, but since the hotel is very old, the walls and floors are not very effective. We could hear people talking in the adjacent room and the floor above our room creaked so everytime someone walked it made a creaking sound. The housekeeping service was poor too. We had to request them to clean and replenish basic supplies a couple of times before they did it.

I would recommend the hotel in place of the lodge but the property is beautiful.

Overall a good stay considering the age of facilities. Dead flowers in flower pots and attention to details was missing. Staff was excellent!

Accomodation was overpriced, but that is to be expected. The real disappointment was the dinner. Slow, disorganized, sloppy, and under trained staff, made for an expensive and comical , pretentious dinning experience. The food was OK, just poorly presented
Classic old hotel. Nice gracious staff and good dining. No TV, No Internet, we had no phone service, all of that is a ok with me. They do have free nationwide phone service from lobby phone box.
The hotel is fine but we didn’t care for food or food options. The lodge had a cafeteria style (burgers and dogs) where we got burnt burgers. The main restaurant was very expensive and our fish was overcooked. The deli with premade food was the best option. No complaints about that. Just wish there were more options.

YS Lake Hotel is nice, rooms clean & tidy as are most areas. Noted 3 bugs in ceiling corners. No air but fan helped.
The Dining Room: food tasteless (trout) and dry. I asked for lemon & did not receive, veggie - green beans marginally cooked. Staff are nice & pleasant but need much improvement with dinner cooks! Spend time on quality!! Breakfast was fine, Floors in dining room also need attention, cleaning & polishing, shows wear & dirtiness. Sorry for poor/ fair review but honest! Stay 2 nights in Aug. 2024.
Cabins were spacious with outdoor seating provided. Grounds were great and easy to walk to main hotel, shops, and lakeshore. Several wildlife sightings while staying! Beautiful spot in Yelllowstone. Dinner at hotel was great in both service and quality.
We were disappointed in the quality of the food in the dining room. Xanterra does a horrible job when it comes to creating a dining experience. It's memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.
Location is great and views of Yellowstone lake are awesome. Staff are freindly and helpfully but could use some more hands.
My issues
- There were a lot of dead bugs in the bathroom that i had to clean up
-Bathroom fan light was always on
-Smoke detector flashed directly into my face while trying to sleep
- You can hear everything from the above and neighbor room.....everything
You cannot get better views inside of the park than the Lake Hotel. I would also venture to say that the dining option on-premises is superior to many of the other options in the park (though pricey). It has a really cool history that makes it a fun stay during your visit to Yellowstone. The staff was great. Consider starting your trip with a boat ride at the lake to get the full history to set the tone!
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very welcoming. The only thing that was disappointing was that the dining room was closed for breakfast & we were given 4 options served in a box.
We liked the in park location and Lake Yellowstone is a beautiful area. Deer and elk around the area. We mostly prepared our own breakfast & lunch but very limited and expensive dinner options and some food was overcooked.
We were looking at different hotels for our stay in Yellowstone park and this was the only one available for our time frame. There was a number of things wrong with the hotel and the price was very high. For example, The room was very hot even with the windows open, the room wasn’t cleaned even after I went down to say that the trash cans were full and the towels were not replaced ( they said they would make sure the next day it was Taken care of and it never Was) the connectivity was only available at the off site cafe and it was Very spotty. & dining was very hard to get reservations ( the main one was only available after 9 pm on a wait list. ) the grab and go cafe for breakfast or lunch was way over priced and very limited. I know there is very few options if you want to stay in the park , but if you are paying $600 a night you would expect the basics to be there. Very disappointed.
