The Rose and Crown Hotel, dating back to the 15th century, is a Grade II listed building that served as a historic coaching inn in Wisbech. Its architecture features a blend of Tudor and Georgian styles, with a Tudor façade, exposed oak beams, and a period fireplace, while the Georgian front was added in the 18th century. The building retains much of its original structure, showcasing the evolution of English architecture over centuries. These preserved historical elements reflect its long-standing role in the town's history as a prominent stop for travellers and merchants.

Absolutely awful!!
I booked this hotel for our aunt and uncle who were coming to visit, as i thought a hitel would be more comfortable than sleeping on our sofas or an airbed. We dropped them at the hotel around 8pm and collected them at 7am the next day. They said it was awful, dirty, and couldn't get into the bed and rather slept on top of it and used towels (which they had taken with them) as a "duvet" They said they wanted to call us in the night to collect them, but didnt want to disturb us. (As we have a baby and toddler) i got a call from the hotel to ask for feedback, i told them awful and i got an empty apology. I would not recommend staying here. Also, the heater was on full heat yet it had been about 24⁰c that day, no need for heating!!! We live fairly locally and will make sure people are aware not to recommend to others who may be visiting family/friends.

A welcome stop on the way to a funeral.
Some of the hotel was built in the 1600s . It was a very interesting building. The staircase was grade 1 listed and we were on the third floor so it was a bit wonky to get up there. It was 2 star so we weren't expecting anything more. Our room was clean and comfortable but on the list to be refurbished. Our daughter's room was not up to the cleanliness of ours. The bed hadn't been changed and was broken in one corner. The people on reception were very keen to hear our views and put things right.

Wouldn't recommend, but the staff were nice
The hotel advertisement was misleading. It boasts beautiful views but all we could see was a scruffy concrete space from a dirty window. Our room was meant to have a queen bed but it was two singles pushed together with a top sheet which didn't fit, so it came off as soon as qe got into bed. Nowhere to eat or drink on sight. Ours was meant to be a deluxe room, but there was nothing deluxe about it. We had disposable cups in the room. Unfortunately, the section to add pictures isn't working.

You got what you paid for. It was cheap and a bed to lie on. Work is being done and dust in the bedrooms. Toilet, sink and shower looked fairly new but round edge of lino floor was discoloured. Bits all over bedroom carpet. T.V not working. Lock on bedroom door very difficult to close. No food being available.

The room was disgusting sheets did not fit on beds, mattresses were filthy and toilet not clean, damp coming in, carpets not hoovered and not facilities for drinks. When we arrived it said on google the the place was closed. On making more enquiries I found out that the 5 star rating was for 2015 and has not been inspected since and since Covid all facilities had been shut except room rental.

The Rose and Crown is lovely old town house in the centre of Wisbeach. Because of its age it is little ropey but it is full of character. Mario, the Italian manager is the star of the show. He’s very helpful and friendly and always has time to talk. In addition, the price was very competitive. Overall, very good.
