Liked: Staff & service, amenities
The hotel was slightly shabby, but the location was good (and no need to walk up 199 steps to get there), and the staff were incredibly helpful. Would stay there again if I come back to Whitby.
Although the Hotel is starting to look its age The cleanliness and services were excellent.
We ate and drank in the evening at the hotels bar which was excellent the gentleman running the bar was friendly and provided great service.
Our room was very good with a super view over the sea and across to The Abbey.
Will definitely stay again
Advertises parking this should be at best described as limited with less than 50 spaces. Everyone else pays for street parking. WiFi was unavailable in the evening. Property was old. Room was okay and the bathroom newly furnished and good. Views are stunning, limited food menu, food and drinks expensive however bar staff very friendly and food of a good standard.
All the staff, and visiting workers, were very friendly and polite. I would stay here again.

Prior to our visit we were notified the lift was out of service. Our room was located on the top floor and although using the stairs was not a problem for my party we did meet a couple on the stairs one day who clearly were finding the stairs difficult.
Staff friendly and helpful as usual. As the hotel is being renovated a bit more noise and dust about, but only to be expected. Unfortunately someone had abandoned their car not in a parking space, so was unable to park in allotted spot first night, not really hotels fault.

Good reflection of the hotel
Staff were all very friendly and helpful
Room was cleaned daily but the hotel is in need of refurbishement and the lift is noisy and it’s the only one so your kept waiting for it
A last minute booking, nicely appointed, room only, large twin. As booked through your website did not know about parking at hotel. Bijou lift, very clunky, had been out of action prior w/e. Also water went off one morning.
Petfect location by the sea. Nothing too much trouble

Pleasantly surprised
It was a last minute booking so took what was available. We've stayed here before and noted its steady deterioration over the years. But this time we had an average room facing the rear, it was clean and comfortable, little evidence of the structural decay, maybe they've started to get onto it? Receptionist was spot-on, well done.
We enjoyed our stay its was a very clean and spacious room b9nus being dog friendly the breakfast was plentiful and hotel located central to all amenities only a short walk down to the harbour
Views were amazing would definitely book to stay again
Amazing and most welcoming staff at reception. Took every effort to make our stay most comfortable. Room were really big and great views of the sea and harbour. Breakfast was really good and again staff there was so efficient!
