This is our second stay at the Fox and Hounds. The staff are very welcoming. The food is excellent, with an extensive choice available. The room was clean, and well presented. There was a good supply of tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate and bottled water, plus shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.
Very dog friendly too!
Lovely spacious room and friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful location with train station nearby. Great breakfast.
Our only complaint was that rooms at the far end of the hotel had zero Wi-Fi, although I'm sure this will be fixed soon.
We were shown to our room which we booked a superior room and on entering it there was lots of blue bottle flies everywhere in total 11 of them so we had to get them all out of the room then when they have cleaned the room they had left all the rubbish in the bin from the previous occupants plus they had put the bathroom rubbish in it as well plus there was poo in the toilet. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room or even the rooms next to us as we heard someone else complaining about it. Lack of routers seems to be the problem, food wasn’t bad but had better for the price they are charging ie home made pie had pasty top as thick as a doorstep and the burger was the smallest burger I’ve ever had although it was tasty and it was supposed to be in a locally baked bread bun but it was just a small bun you would get from Tesco in a pack of 6. Didn’t top up the tea and coffee condiments properly had to go and ask for sugar from the bar and didn’t leave any bottled water on our last night of stay. The bathroom was nice but the shower screen on the bath is too small as when you have a shower the bathroom floor get soaked. They rate themselves as 4* B&B but really it’s a just gets a 3* and only just gets that. Would we stay again, well no not for the price as it’s not cheap and when you pay for a superior room you expect more.
After arriving a little stressed from previous accommodation, I had a friendly and professional greeting and was grateful my room was ready early. Staff were extremely helpful offering use of the drying room for my drenched clothes!
The cosiest room in a lovely pub, spotlessly clean, plenty of tea/coffee supplies and a great view.
Dining was great too, lovely breakfast and dinner.
Would definitely stay if in the area again. Thank you for making me so welcome.
Everything was good with the accommodation. The only issue was the wifi wasn't working. So if you want to escape the world its the perfect place. For us we needed to make an important internet call that evening.
Very warm welcome. Loved the twin room we stayed in. Clean, modern and well stocked. Beds comfortable.
Stayed for evening meal, delicious, good value and staff was tentative.
Great night sleep, no issues to report. Outstanding views. Plenty of parking.
Would recommend. 👍
My daughter and I had a fantastic stay at this delightful place, staff were amazing and the room was comfortable and clean! Will definitely recommend to anyone!
We stopped for one night breakfast included . The breakfast was good the meal the previous day not so good . There was a issue i was left to sit there while someone talked to the chef and then was fogot about ended up with a cold meal had to cut my losses and ate it . There were other issues to
Loved our stay here, nice location, nice food, lovely old building and great staff.Beautiful surroundings and views of North Yorkshire ideally placed for visiting Whitby, and the Moores. Can’t fault the people or place, our room was nice and clean and serviced daily and had all the necessary tea and coffee on hand, even though the shower was really small we managed.
We were underwhelmed by our stay here. I thought that with all the wonderful reviews that the food and accommodation would be nicer then it was. We were in a room on the bottom floor, and you could hear the patrons conversations and footsteps late into the night and first thing in the morning. The food was average too, as was the service. The grounds are stunning though, and give you a great feel for the beautiful Yorkshire Moors.
