Spend the night in a historic train station!
Brakeman’s Bay is a charming, wheelchair-accessible studio cabin set in a former train station, offering beautiful lake views and a private covered outdoor seating area. This one-of-a-kind space blends vintage railroad character with modern comfort, inspired by the Brakemen of the historic Southern Pacific Railroad.
Inside, the cabin features a full kitchen—including a fully functioning antique stove—along with a standing shower and thoughtful touches throughout. Large, well-insulated windows and doors help minimize sound from the active rail line, which typically sees a train pass about once per day, preserving a peaceful stay while honoring the property’s history.
Each cabin includes a dedicated desk and rolling chair, making Brakeman’s Bay an ideal spot for remote work or creative inspiration. Complimentary Wi-Fi and tranquil lake views create a productive yet relaxing environment.
Take a ride on one of the complimentary canoes or kayaks - available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the easy access to the lake, marina, pier, and docks. Fishing opportunities include coho salmon, steelhead trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, and catfish. Bring your own boat, jet ski, kayak, or other watercraft.
Beyond the lake, guests can enjoy seasonal mushroom and berry foraging, nearby hiking trails, and the Oregon coast just a short drive away. The nearby town of Florence offers shopping, riverfront dining, waterfall hikes, and coastal adventures such as crabbing, clamming, and charter fishing—making Brakeman’s Bay a perfect base for exploring it all.
