I always read others reviews, thought RARELY give a review, particularly a POSITIVE one --- but this stay was so unexpectedly excellent that it is only right to let others know about this wonderful hotel.
This is a quaint, unassuming little hotel in a neat little romantic road town that the tourists haven't seemed to overrun. The Owner is onsite and friendly. This hotel that has been open for hundreds of years fronts the town square, and adjoins the rathaus ... claimed to be where the local king stayed when he was on excursions into the town.
But the REAL surprise was the atmosphere and presence of this wonderful little hotel. Each year, my family takes 3-4 weeks off and goes car-touring across Europe, so we've stayed in castles and dives --- and none more memorable than this little hotel.
There is a wonderful little restaurant onsite, the food was excellent and the service wonderful. There is a small garden dining area that is partially covered by a wonderful historic barn. The owner makes his own beer (which is excellent), and he sells it at the bar. The owner took the time to talk to us, tell us a little of the history of the town, the church next door, and his hotel.
The rooms had beautiful, simple but somewhat ornate furnishings, that seemed to put you back in time a couple of hundred years. The bathrooms were modern and complete.
Just a wonderfully enjoyable stay at a great price, and with an excellent host.
