Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Amazing views from room (if on the right side), and fair hotel, but could do with a make-up. Staff was friendly and accomodating, but seems like the hotel needs a fresh breath of air. Rooms very good, but minor issue such as broken showerholder (not recent) etc. showed lack of care. A lack of link between what was on the poolbar menu, and what the bar actually offered (much more limited) etc. All of the above does not really fit with the price of the hotel.
The restaurant next door made up for some of this, as this offered great views for a drink and/or dinner. The food here is also great.
I loved the relaxed decor, the relaxed atmosphere, the attentive but not too attentive staff, who were friendly and helpful.
It’s a shame the pool is not open earlier in the cooler morning and later in the evening. It’s such a wonderful pool.
Excellent service and the view is fantastic!
I would stay there again.

Too expensive for what you get
The hotel could do with a refurbishment and paying a bit more attention to its guests, breakfast was average. Having said that the location was great, 20 minutes from Volos and fantastic views, the bed was comfortable and the pool was a plus.
The location was great, even though communication with Volos (to get a cab) was not easy

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
--Hotel Staff was very courteous
--Breakfast was very good
--General condition of the hotel is tired and needs renovation
--Driving up to the hotel does not give you a good first impression
Xenia hotel has some of the most incredible views ever, making the difficult drive up the mountain worth it. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is great !
We were at the Xenia Palace in mid-September and there weren't many other guests, but the hotel was well and professionally staffed. Breakfast was quite good, although not the best ever: coffee and tea were mediocre, although Greek coffee could be obtained from the bar. We had a lovely big room with a balcony overlooking the pool and the slopes down to Volos, but the pool was too cold to swim in comfortably.
we had 2 rooms and enjoyed very much.
the staff, room, view, breakfast the location...all was great.

Not much charme
The hotel is a large complex from the 60s without much charme. But there is a stunning view from the restaurant and from many rooms. I was there on May 1st and the pool was still empty .... That's sad. Rooms are clean but not so large. I would rate it more as a 3 stars.
We stayed for two nights where we enjoyed the high quality of service and the facilities. The pool is nice and enjoyed sitting under the umbrellas. There were mainly families with kids giving a friendly atmosphere. The food is better at the veranda and at the nearby village, while the hotel has nice breakfast. High quality Greek resort for family vacations in a very nιice area of Greece. The stuff was very helpful and facilitated our needs. The only negative point, they should offer to bring the luggage to the room upon arrival and have transport service to Volos.
We spent one night in Xenia Palace. Before this we had one night in 4 star hotel in Athens and it was really, really bad. That made me think the whole 4-star concept in Greece - what if all hotels are like that?
Well luckily I was proven wrong by Xenia Palace Portaria. I can't point a single bad thing about the hotel. We had one complaint though, but the reception handeled the matter so well that I think I don't even mention here as the problem was swiftly corrected.
Location of the hotel is beautiful! Although you have to drive quite a while from Volos to get there as the serpentine roads take a long time to drive. They are in really good shape though and with the roadside full of restaurants and cafes I see no point in going to Volos?
A really memorable stay and I'd sure come again!
