No one there to meet you. Had to call a number and the guy tells hou what room to go to. We had two rooms, both were already occupied. Tried to call back but no one woukd pick up. We left and found another hitel close by luckily.
Aska Hostel was centrally located in the quaint fishing village of the Westman Islands. Shared bathroom and shower space was clean and tidy. Towels also provided. Wi-Fi was available throughout and there was a shared kitchen on the first floor. We lucked out with a corner room and had breath-taking views of the sea cliffs from two sides. Paths to the volcano, Brothers Brewery, and delicious Joy Restaurant are only a short walk away
Pro: Really good location. Clean and spacious rooms and bathrooms. Everything went smooth. I would stay there again.
Con: This is just my personal preference. I didn't see anyone at the front desk the whole time I was there (both in the evening when checking in, or in the morning when checking out). I didn't have any problems during check in/out, but I generally prefer to be able to interact with someone in person (either to introduce me to the hostel or the area, or just to answer any potential questions that I have).
This hostel was clean and modern looking. The staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. It had a great location down town within walking distance of multiple restaurants.
Check in process was disorganized and unclear. No one was at reception, and I was forced to make an international phone call to contact the person who was supposed to be working at the reception desk. It was also unclear who at the hostel was an employee vs who were guests.
The hostel itself was in great condition and had excellent facilities. The room was clean and comfortable.

Great location - place just ok
Bedroom and shared bathroom areas were clean. Common area and coffee/tea/sink area not so much. Shared refrigerator very smelly :-(. Staff was mildly friendly but the least customer service oriented of all places we stayed on our trip. It is a typical 2 star place. A bit over priced for what you get in my opinion. I would stay there again if it was my only option but I would do so knowing it was a lower end of a two star place. We stayed at a different place every night during this trip to Iceland. ... This was definitely our least favorite.
Aska Hostel was a very nice and enjoyable hostel, at a reasonable price, located in a great part of town with a solid restaurant next door and a local craft brewery across the street.
Rooms were clean and the Wi-Fi worked well. It also appeared to be a family friendly space.
As this is a hostel, there are shared bathrooms/showers/sinks.
The hostel is adorable! This hostel is run by a family and they are so friendly. Gave great recommendations on things to do. Right next to a great brewery and a few restaurants!
Nice hostel in good location opposite the only bar - Brothers Brewery. Clean comfortable room and good shared shower rooms. Large free tea and coffee was appreciated and the staff were friendly and helpful. Cosy communal area. Would recommend this hostel.
We enjoyed our stay here – a lovely cheap and cheerful hostel. Check-in was smooth, friendly staff who were able to make suggestions about what to do during our stay. The facilities were nice, modern and clean, and free tea/coffee a plus too. Our room was plain but nice. Only improvement would have been that the two beds were different heights, which made it a bit strange when we put them together!
We were greeted by Paki, who was full of helpful hints, things to do. The room was comfortable and ideal for 4 people, the location was great and good value for money
Super clean and well equipped. Had everything we needed and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms, kitchen and lobby were all excellent communal spaces that were clean, inviting and well maintained (sometimes hostels struggle with this but Aska was excellent). In a good location close to the ferry, food, shops, and hiking--I really couldn't ask for anything more.
We had a wonderful experience. The host and other helpers at the hostel were enormously helpful around finding great hiking routes, giving directions around the city, interesting background information, restaurant suggestions etc. The three rooms our family had were all spacious and comfortable and one of them had a truly astoundingly beautiful view with windows stretching across three sides of the room.
The common room is very comfortable also and has good cooking and food storage capacity as well. The common bathrooms and showers were very clean and spacious as well.
A basic hotel, with excellent rooms, extremely clean, good beds, and shared toilets and showers. Centrally located, tho the town is very small so it is hard not to be. Very friendly and helpful staff with a new owner who is determined to succeed. We had a reservations mixup, due to interaction with expedia site but the manager did his best to solve it.

Ok stay at Aska Hotel
A very basic hostel, but clean and in the centre of Heimaey with magnificent surroundings. Friendly staff.
We booked this hotel for 2 nights way in advance of our trip. Our flight ended up being cancelled 24 hours before check in. We attempted to call the hostel several times on our own and Expedia also attempted to call and email the hostel. We repeated this process on landing in Iceland.
We decided to go to the hotel anyways to at least spend our second night of the reservation there. When we arrived nobody was at the desk. We waiting for an hour and a half (this is at 8pm). There was a number to call for assistance at the desk that rang to a cell phone left at the desk.
Us and another couple stuck waiting went down the street to check in at Hotel Eyjar down the street the owner was very accommodating and friendly. Spend the little bit extra and skip this hostel.
The locals informed us nobody had seen the new owners for a few days.
