We had a lot of luggage and were sent to the top floor with no lift. The building smelt like old stale pipes all the time. There was a kitchen but we weren’t allowed access when we only wanted to boil water. Room wasn’t clean
No! No! No! There is no excuse for a place like this! I have spent the last 60 days traveling through Spain and this was by far the worst place to stay....in fact we didn’t stay, after seeing our room we sacrificed the money we spent for 10 days in Valencia, having to find better accommodations elsewhere. We made these arrangements 6months In advance and we’re beyond disappointed with the location and accessibility of the room. It was up 7 Flights of stairs!! The stairs themselves were small and hard to climb, the railings dirty. Then there was the room. The walls were gross and smudged. The floors were so dirty we didn’t want to remove our shoes. The bathroom, a shared bathroom down the hall was to small to sit comfortably in. We were in the place less then an hour before we decided to leave...Overall this place should be removed from Expedia’s list of recommendations. Do Not Book a Reservation here.
The location of this hotel was perfect for our 4 night stay in Valencia, close to the center of old town and most of the tourist sites or convenient public transportation to everything. Our room was small but adequate, and since we faced the rear of the building, was very quiet. We knew there was no elevator and that wasn't a problem for us. The staff was very helpful.
Not at all like the pictures! We were given a tiny room with 4 flat mattressed bunk beds. I should've read the fine print that there is no a/c and shared bathrooms. The bathroom was cramped and disgusting and the room was hotter than the heatwave outside. We asked to be moved to another room and the front desk woman was unable to move us. We were traveling on a budget but still took the hit and booked with a more comfortable hotel at only a little over this price. There are many great places to stay in this city, Hotel Cid is not one of them!!!!!!
The room was really small for a double, looking back at the pictures of the hotel our room is not even fixtured in them. Our friend travelling on her own booked a double room as well to have an en-suite and her room was nearly double in size to our. Our room did not have a tv, you could not have a shower in the morning because there was just a treacle of water coming out and cold as everyone else was having a shower at the same time. Maybe this would of happened if we weren't in the bottom floor!
The Location of the Hostal is amazing. A 2 minutes walk to el Mercado Central, a 5 minutes walk from the Rezafa area, which is full of bars. A 7 minutes walk from el barrior del Carmen and 10 minutes walks towards the park and the Torres de Serrano. Really, really good location. Direct train from the airport: 15 minutes journey a Dream location, when arriving quite late.
This hotel's location is great. Very central - a few blocks away from the Mercado, Cathedral, Main Plaza. It is located down a narrow alley (callejon) where there are a few restaurants with outside seating. Sometimes it does not smell very good in there but people eating do not seem to mind it. The hotel is very clean. When I booked the room, it said that the bathroom is outside. I didn't realize that that meant that it is outside of the room. Though it was private and right next door, it is kind of a nuisance to go outside of the room and into the hallway to use the bathroom. It was nice to have a sink inside the room. It was a bit dark in there but the shower worked well and it was clean. The cable TV was great. Nice flat screen big TV. The only thing that I didn't like was that my credit card was charged before we checked-in. Good service at check-in. We had a late train out of Valencia, so we also appreciated that they let us leave our bags there after we checked-out. Overall a nice stay.
front desk person unfriendly. Could not see anyone in the hostel but walls were thin. Room smelled like smoke and bathroom smelled like urine. Sheets were clean and soft, bed and pillow were comfortable. Very expensive for accommodation. Would not stay there again
Other than being on the top floor with only a fan (no AC) during an usually hot month, the experience was good. The trick was to stay out late and wait for the room to cool off. There is a good Irish pub around the corner called Saint Martin to help you cool off.
Stayed at Hostal El Cid with my husband for 3 nights and it was perfect for our needs. It was clean, comfortable and inexpensive. We got in on a 4am train from Granada and they had a note waiting for us with instructions on how to contact staff to check in and get our keys. Most staff spoke English and were extremely helpful. I would stay here again and would recommend to travelers looking for simple, clean, safe, and inexpensive.

Hotel staff can speak in fluent English; and very helpful. Location is perfect; in walking distance to most of attractions. However, there are lot of restaurants & bars downstairs, it's quite noisy in night time.

Great location
Very well located hostel close to shopping, cathedral and restaurants, pleasant staff. However the air conditioner was broken in the reception and there was no air conditioners in the rooms and it was very hot. Overall I would recommend if the weather was cooler.

Hostal El Cid - Valencia
The hostel is in a very convenient location - in the heart of the old town in Valencia, with plenty of transportation and restaurants around. The place was well maintained, the staff was friendly as well but our room was located on the last floor of the hostel - long stairs, no elevator, extremely hot during day and night because the room was just under the roof.. Wireless internet was OK only at the reception
A really nice hostel, with a great location. Awesome view, room with personality. Overall perfect with a nice price! Maybe a kitchen would be nice, but it's not your ordinary hostel.
Hostal práctico y limpio en el centro a buen precio. Habitación amplia y sencilla que cuenta con lo necesario. Baño pequeño pero suficiente. Único inconveniente que no tiene ascensor.
