The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. They kindly accommodated our request to change rooms when we expressed concerns about the one initially assigned to us. However, the rooms themselves are quite outdated and in need of significant refurbishment.
Our initial room had a couple of issues: it was Room 13, which we preferred to avoid, and the shower was leaking, causing a persistent dripping noise even when turned off. The room we were moved to seemed fine at first, but we soon discovered that flushing the toilet triggered a loud, tornado-like noise. We could also hear the plumbing from the rooms above and below, making it unpleasant whenever anyone else flushed.
Unfortunately, these issues made our stay uncomfortable, and we decided to check out a night earlier than planned, even though we were unable to receive a refund for that night.
We understand that the hotel is situated above a pub, which can naturally lead to some noise, and we appreciate that this is reflected in the room rates. However, being woken up by a loud party on our floor at 2:30 AM was beyond what we expected. While we're not opposed to a lively atmosphere, our main goal was to explore the Lake District, not to be disturbed in the middle of the night.
