I'm pretty sure that this is Darin's first experience managing a VRBO. A few small improvements will help his listing earn five stars from now on.
The only major problem was communication. When we booked, I asked if the property had a crib or pack and play. He didn't respond. Later, as we were nearing our destination, I sent another message asking the same question. I also asked how we should check in. We still didn't hear from him. We decided to drive to the apartment and see if it was unlocked or if he had responded by then. It was locked and still no response. We reached out to VRBO and they gave us his phone number. My husband called him, and luckily he answered. Darin had no idea we were coming or that the apartment had even been booked. Darin gave us the code to the apartment, and we got in easily. However, even after that, he still never responded to my orignal messages.
The apartment was nice. New carpet, and he did well setting it up with essentials - cookware, dishes, soap, a hair dryer, and extra blankets. I appreciated the laundry baskets in the bedrooms, too. I could tell most things were new because they still had stickers, tags, or were in their original packaging. The only essentials missing were shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. For the most part, the furniture was new and nice. Unfortunately, the beds weren't very comfortable.
