Call after you book

I booked a cabin and ended up in a standard room on the second floor being handicapped. The tub drain drained it would not stay shut for a bath, the toilet runs all night long and they would not change my reservation without a $70 up charge. I have been traveling to this hotel since 1969 back-and-forth from Illinois to Florida multiple times per year and have never run into this many difficulties. It was room 418.

Everyone at the front desk and room service were amazing. I’d like to preface I did not make any formal complaints about the room so I don’t claim to be upset for not being offered solutions. The room had fresh sheets and towels but someone needs to dust the baseboards BAD, wipe down surfaces like the phone, remote (which had busted batteries but easy fix), the bathroom door and walls, the shower, the mirrors, the tops of frames and tv, under the beds. The water pressure was also very weak. Probably not issues most people would have but I have an eye for those kinds of things. Again, I didn’t ask for anything to be changed so who’s to say we didn’t just get a room that hadn’t been used in a while. Other than general cleanliness, the property was super cute. Felt safe as well with the exception of a window peeper posing as a phone call but that’s anywhere you go and just shut the curtains? Local lake patio vibes restaurant in the back with great service but parking at the main lodge can get tight. Overall the stay was enjoyable though. Would book again if I knew it’d be a little cleaner next time.

The location is great. Right off of the interstate. We felt safe and it was quiet. I would suggest updating the rooms. It took a long time for tub to fill. We saw mold under the rim of toilet and underneath the handicap bar in the tub. The only TV channels were streaming channels. The front lobby staff was very friendly and helpful.

The cabin had potential, but was in need of a deep cleaning, or any cleaning. Someone had built a fire in months past which had never been cleaned out of the fireplace, so the inside was fairly campfire smelling. If you have allergies, I’d pass. The bed was pretty old with loud springs. The acorns landing on the metal roof were pretty loud, just a warning.
