The room was great! Really warm, awesome bed and bathroom. The reason for the lower scores was breakfast; breakfast is brought in on a tray from an external supplier. The first day was ok, although it’s obvious the tray had sat for a while. When we went to breakfast we found the room was locked and the delivery guy standing outside in the cold (1c) with our breakfast on the tray. At 09:16 (we had asked for breakfast at 09:00 at check-in) a lady turned up to open the door. The breakfast and room were freezing cold but we were hungry and most places in town don’t open until 10am so ate up! There was no apology or explanation offered. So overall, great hotel but I’d recommend you skip breakfast.

Very difficult property to get to if you are not familiar with the roadways. Parking is exorbitant. We did self check in as we arrived late and it was very efficient. Our room was on the fourth floor. There is no elevator, which is not a problem however the multiple staircases were winding and very narrow and quite treacherous. We couldn’t take our bags up. We had to put a few items in small bags/backpack and take them. No bottled water - I’m sure it was tap water in a pitcher. The room itself was quite unique and nicely decorated, however it was very dark, even with the lights on. It was very noisy with street noise, constant bells ringing from the church and on the hour. The two women at reception were lovely and did offer to move us to a lower floor but we were only there two nights and didn’t want to move our things. All in all a disappointing stay.

Parking is €25 for a full day in the garage nearby. Shops and dining (and bike rentals) are walkable easily. Staff is practically nonexistent, which is okay if you don't need them but if you needed things it would likely be difficult. Plan accordingly.

No lift, 46 stairs (narrow, spiral) to top room

Checked in late for a Deluxe Room with Canal View. Did not realize it would be on the very top floor. You must climb a total of 46 steps to reach the room - which includes 13 steps from to the entrance up to the room’s floor. Knew there was no lift but for whatever reason thought it would be one floor up. Room #14 was spacious, bathroom large and newer. Hotel is in a nice location. View is nice - accessible when standing to look out the windows. The problem for us was the stairs - having to navigate those every time you might want to pop in to your room (up/down) was something we were unable to manage and we had to find other accommodations. So if stairs might pose a problem for you, be sure to verify the exact floor of the room you are reserving.

Tulip fields trip

Lovely city location- very central with great original features but modern furnishings. Just be aware of some road noise/ people chatter outside windows which are not fully sound proofed. 2 long chairs are too small / uncomfortable to really relax in - a softer would be much better give this was advertised as a ‘suite’.
