A clean and comfortable hotel.
Our main issue is with the parking - there was none and we had to drive several blocks to find public parking.
The receptionist had no idea where we might find parking.
3 minutes walk form the beach, excellent Tel Aviv location with easy access to the main roads and attractions (including Carmel Market and Yaffo), staff friendly and pragmatic, room was ok. My only issue was that I had understood the Gilgal offered breakfast in the rooftop, one of the main reasons I had chosen it. Yet there was no breakfast and the rooftop was closed. Luckily there are many good options for breakfast in the neighbourhood.
We have stayed at the Gilgal many times in the past and have always enjoyed the location, the friendly staff and convenience. Those things have not changed. However, what has become a problem was the cleanliness of the rooms, the shower leaked onto the floor in the bathroom and hall way in all three of the rooms that we stayed in. Also, the website states there is breakfast available and that is not true. They no longer have the breakfast and it is still advertised. We chose to stay at the Gilgal this visit due to the convenience of the breakfast. This is not good advertising for Expedia or the Gilgal. Many, including my husband and I, were disappointed.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
One reason we chose this hotel was they advertised parking availability. There is none. The hotel is difficult to access by car in a congested neighborhood. Rooms are fine, but the AC cycled off every couple of hours, waking us up when the room got too warm. Overall a "so-so" stay.
Huge disappointment as it was not cleaned (did not get cleaning any of the three days we stayed there, one due to Sabbath which was ok), it needed renovation and was too expensive for the quality.
Staff - very helpful and obliging. After asking for one - had what was probably the quietest room in Tel Aviv (a very noisy city).
Room is basic but well maintained. Bathroom - very modern. Lobby - spacious and pleasant.
Hotel location - about 200 meters from the beach promenade.
Breakfast was supposed to be included. But we got nothing. Then they promised a free voucher for a local coffee shop for breakfast and then tried to charge us. Terrible. Too bad. The hotel was clean and comfortable and very close to beach and restaurant. Though. Because of COVID-19 there were maybe only half dozen rooms occupied so they probably could not afford to make breakfast. They should have told us and made it clear on Expedia web site
For the price and location its great.
Two new tall buildings on the beach mean you only get a partial view of the sea from the hotel.
Staff are fine, no one made you feel warm, fuzzy, or special.
Breakfast was fine and Kosher, so no meat (bread, egg, veg, dairy and fish)
Nice that they offer free tea and coffee all day. They also have laundry facilities at a charge.
It is not fancy but it is adequate. Good location a few blocks from the beach, but the way they represented it - it seemed to be on the beach. Great breakfast.
We had one room reserved for 2 of us but it was small and not meant for people who don't share a bed, so we ended up with 2 rooms . They were helpful and gave us a fair rate.
