An oasis between Tamarindo and Flamingo
Casa Mapache is a lovely place managed by lovely people.
The spacious, clean room had a king size bed and two twin beds, which was perfect for our family of four with two "tween" boys who don't want to share a bed if they don't have to! The A/C and ceiling fan kept us plenty cool. The bathroom was huge, with two showers! -- what a nice feature. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure
Our favorite part was the pool! The water was much cooler and more refreshing than most of the hotel pools that we encountered. And the pool is longer than most, so you can actually do some legitimate swimming.
While lounging around the pool area, we were entertained by a family of howler monkeys that was making the rounds through the trees surrounding the property.
The hotel is managed by a very nice family who takes great pride in what they do. The breakfast was delicious and the presentation was lovely. The French toast was a pleasant surprise. My only complaint is that the place is called a B&B, yet they charge for breakfast. Perhaps it should just be called a B?
The son of the owner (sorry, I'm bad with names) was very helpful throughout our stay and I would like to give him special thanks for pointing us to his favorite beach in the area, which turned out to be our favorite beach on our whole trip! I'm not saying where it is -- you will have to go to Casa Mapache and ask him yourself!
