The hotel was fine. I just can’t get past how the beef burger tasted at Shaughnesseys. We took two burgers back to our room and were in a hurry to get to a concert or I would have gone back down. The beef tasted so bad I couldn’t even stand the smell of it.
Stayed here for a concert at the OnCenter arena which is conveniently located just one street over. Felt safe and the Christmas decorations were lovely. Would stay here again!
It’s a jewel!
Great service, attentive staff, super clean in every area, perfect location, many food and drink options and easy transportation to and from the hotel 24 hours a day
There wasn’t much around the area that was open. The entrance of the hotel was just not pleasant or inviting. There should be more of a driveway or drop-off/pick-up area. There should be nicer entrance doors, greenery inside and out. You walk in and are greeted with a lot stairs with dirty worn carpet. The main lobby area could have been a bit brighter. The hotel seemed a bit run down. It has great potential given its history. The room was spacious. It had a very interesting wooden door. I suspect it was an original historical door. The interior aspect had two buttons that I didn’t understand what to do with them. There was a dead bolt and chain lock. The bathroom was very large but no tub, two sinks and a large open space. Some type of seating or place to put your clothes on after showering would have been nice. Also a few hooks to hang pajamas on would be nice. The dark wood needs to be refinished.

Liked: Cleanliness
This is an older hotel property located in the downtown area. Parking is very much an issue but they do offer valet parking for a additional fee. Room was clean but a bit dated and the furniture was a bit worn. TV remote did not work needed the front desk to replace. Got a wake up call at 12.05 am from the automated system which i didn't leave and the regular alarm went off at 6 am again i didn't set it. Left my room for the day and returned at 5.30 to find the room as i left it. Had to inquire at the front desk again for maid service. I just feel for the price of the room you expect a certain level of service. Offering to give you points and a free drink at the bar at times just doesn't help hide poor service...
It was convenient to the Oncenter. Clean. Shaunesseys bar was a pleasant surprise. Yet very crowded though. Not enough staff. Took about an hour and a half to get our food. Our waiter Wade was very pleasant and so polite. Need more bartenders.
Two issues with my stay at Marriott Syracuse: the first is that I phoned the hotel for early check-in and they told me to arrive in 30 minutes. I arrived in 40 minutes and had to wait an additional 45 minutes for my room - even later than 4:00pm advertised check in. The other issue was so strange … a very bright light in the room flashed every hour all night. It was noiseless but bright enough to see through closed eyelids. Not outside. Reported this upon checkout.
Rome, Thaddeus, Mandi, and everyone in the restaurants were just so friendly and professional. Beautiful hotel and wonderful history to keep us busy while walking around the property.
