We needed a place to stay and the Lord Nelson was close to want we were attending. We were surprised how good our room was. When we arrived reception was great. We when down stairs for a drink before we headed out to our function.
If you are a hop-head, you must stay here, as you get to enjoy having one of Sydney's finest brewpubs downstairs. But you don't have to be a beer aficionado to enjoy this hotel, with its unique history (you can see the chisel marks in the wall stones from when they were quarried by hand) and terrific location. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom, and the location is terrific - quiet and safe neighborhood in the Rocks, but only a ten minute walk to Circular Quay. The food options here at The Lord are great as well, and there are several good coffee shops nearby for breakfast. Will stay here again!
This hotel is in a wonderful location, surrounded by historical buildings and within walking distance from beautiful Sydney harbour. Being the oldest pub in Sydney, it’s a quaint historical sandstone building, which we felt, had a warm friendly atmosphere. It’s great value for money and the pictures on the website are a good representation.

Cool place to stay beer was awesome just didn’t love 3 flights of stairs to my room
Turned up on a Friday about 3pm. Went to a room on the 3rd floor.
Carpet was thread bare and dirty heading to the bathroom. Beed was basic with too many dress pillows on it. HUGE noise coming from the kitchen extractor fans outside the room so unless you don't value sleep - AVOID. The position of the TV made it impossible to watch ! Overall. Avoid..choose a modern property elsewhere. No breakfast served as well.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on a fleeting visit. Location is great and who doesn’t want beer so close. No noise at night so no issues. No lift but that’s mention Ed so just a reminder there are lots of steps up at night. Also no hairdryer which isn’t a deal breaker just a little unusual.
Dry disappointed no lift and I didn’t see that when I booked it was right down the bottom of the page very deep bath to step into for shower and no slip mat as I’m older I was a bit apprehensive as it wasn’t safe so no hairdryer and no breakfast and dinner was terrible undercooked fish I asked for a smaller serve they took away a piece of fish but still charged full price and it isn’t near anything
