I stayed at the Beacher's Lodge several years ago, and the "room" I got was a full-sized one bedroom condo with a full kitchen, dining area, living room and bedroom. It was modern, beautifully appointed, with sliding glass doors that opened right onto the beach. It was amazing.
On the most recent stay, I made reservations that cost a LOT of money per night (VRBO will not allow me to show the dollar amounts paid!) and non-refundable because of a Daytona Beach event, but I paid the high price thinking that I was going to get similar accommodations as my previous stay at that cost.
Boy, was I wrong on that one.
The room was old and cramped, with a refrigerator that had rust on the outside of it, a toaster that didn't work, and an air conditioner that cooled the room but did not control humidity, so the tile floor always remained damp. The bathroom sink had a small leak in a pipe, so water dripped on the floor in front of the sink.
The room quality reminded me of the type of room you would get at a no-name hotel on a rural highway.
You know, I'm not the type to give bad reviews. I know that people have to make a living, and I sympathize with that, but I really liked this place the last time I stayed there, and this time was a real letdown. It will certainly affect any decision to consider staying there in the future.
