Would definitely not stay here again.
Arrived late at night at this hotel after flying in from Bangkok. We had been travelling all day so desperately wanted a shower and a good nights sleep. We were given a room close to the reception, spacious but with large patches of mould along one wall. The room looked very shabby and had a definite musty smell. Had it not been midnight we would have refused to stay in this room but we were so tired we decided one night was tolerable. The bathroom was adequate with hot running water but again mould on the walls. The bed was very soft and the bedding very worn. On the plus side, this hotel has a beautiful pool set in lush tropical gardens. The staff were friendly, enough and the cost was very reasonable. Breakfast if you chose a full english was lovely but continental consisted of anaemic toast and a few pieces of chocolate cake. I would definitely not stay here again. The mould on the walls was unacceptable. I have lived in the tropics and know that this occurs with poor maintenance of a property. The hotel is located in a quiet area, a drive away from the beach and the fish market.

Very nice hotel, clean and spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Had dinner there and was really good, although took a little long. Swimming pool was nice but did not get get a chance to use it. Bathroom and room were really spacious with all the toiletries to that of a 5*.Breakfast was really good with a wide enough choice. Overall a good choice and a positive first impression of Sri Lanka :) will definitely recommended and will stay here when we return.

Really a tranquil and comfort hotel
* Like:  Location: It's a small hotel in the residential area so you need a driver to take you there.  Room: Spacious and well decorated to have a real feel that you are in Sri Lanka.  Staff: Friendly and respond quickly to our demands.  Pool: Not crowded for number of rooms in this hotel is limited.  Distance to the airport: No need to be super early to get to the airport because it's close to the airport.  Choice of breakfast: many of options despite it’s a small hotel. * Dislike:  A little bit noisy: Close to the airport so the noise of airplane can be heard. Heard 3 times of worships by loudspeakers in a Sunday morning. 2 are from Muslim, 1 is from Catholic. Besides these two points, it is a peaceful and tranquil environment.  Dining: Eat inside is a little expensive but eat outside of the hotel may require some time to find a good place.

Gorgeous hotel with very nice rooms
Staff were kind and attentive. Room was clean, extremely spacious and the bed was super comfy. I stayed here on my last day of vacation to get some good rest before going back and this was an amazing place to do it. Would highly recommend!

A most enjoyable return visit to Sri Lanka staying at this hotel. Staff are wonderful and feel like our extended family.can’t do enough for us, and so so friendly and pleasant despite their limited English. Comfortable, spotlessly clean rooms, excellent food, plenty of choice. Very relaxing gardens and pool area, easy tuktuk/taxi service to get around cheaply. Would definitely recommend and would re visit ( our 2nd time from UK) Thank you Steve {owner} and a special thanks to all the staff; very sad to leave xx

An excellent small hotel, set in beautiful gardens, in quiet part of Negombo, yet short ride by tuk tuk to the beach. The restaurant menu offered a good selection; staff were professional & efficient. It was very helpful to pre-pay extra for airport transfer.

Beautiful relaxing hotwl
We stayed here for 1 night at the end of our honeymoon. The hotel was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. The food was fantastic - we had the seafood platter as a last night treat and the Sri Lankan breakfast in the morning with the best dahl we had ever tasted!! Only 2 slight quibbles with the food: we were not told that we had to order the 18 dish Sri Lankan curry in advance and there was no fruit or juice with breakfast.

Arrived at hotel to stay for one night before flying home. The facility is great in every way. What impressed us most was the additional service Amila provided. Extra luggage stored no problem. Additional bbed in room and an offer to set up dinner for our group poolside. Great ambience there. Strong recommendation all round.

Stayed here overnight while en route to south Sri Lanka. It wasn't as close to the airport as I had hoped, the taxi drivers had a hard time finding it also.

Superb hotel, with excellent, cannot fault it
Arrived at The Tranquil and had a lovely welcome and soon settled in. The staff are second to none and the food is amazing. I am Vegan and had no problems in ordering food to cater for me. Loved the pool, very quiet and relaxing away from all the hustle like big hotels blocking sunbeds with beach towels. In fact for those who love personal attention and away the big hotels whose food is self serve this is a 'must'. It is a huge thank you to all who we befriended during out stay. So loved it will def be returning next year.

Stayed here before a very early international flight the next morning. Shuttle available to airport but have to pay extra. They packed us food to take with us because the flight was so early which was lovely. Reception staff could improve their English skills but otherwise a comfortable stay.

too far from beach or city centre. offered used disposable slippers The sharp bed corners sticking out of mattress and injured my shin bone Dinning and breakfasting with swarm of flies - the worse experience so far with dinning table not cleaned from previous night we had dinner. Slapped a 17.6 % tax for a dinner and 10% which is automatic in Sri Lanka. The hotel otherwise quite ok but not a 4/5 star as rated. Staff on the surface quite helpful. On the day of arrival 6 prisoners escaped from nearby prison!!.

We stayed here for one night before flying home, we were very impressed with the hotel, pool facilities and room. The service was first class, very helpful. Lovely hotel
Hotel was lovely. The room was spacious and there was a big pool. The food was delicious and portions were very big. The hotel is slightly more expensive than others but the service was excellent, the WiFi fast and it was great to have movies in the room.

Our last night in Sri Lanka we stayed here.to be close to the airport and a pool for the kids was a must. This hotel.checked that box but was also ao much more…by FAR our best stay in the country. In our 23 days in Sri Lanka we came to dread checking into hotels as there was always some problem with our reservation, or horribly long check-in or substandard rooms and service. We were thrilled to be checked in efficiently to tastefully decorated, sparkling clean rooms and to find not only a pool but also a trampoline and darts to occupy the kids. Both dinner and breakfast were extravagant affairs and all of us, including the other family we traveled with, were very impressed at both the service provided and the quality of meals. I will definitely recommend this place to our friends who plan to travel to Sri Lanka in October!
