The hotels day has come and gone. It’s a solid affordable pet friendly place to stay but it’s fraying around the edges. My room had obvious water damage and the toilet constantly ran and the air wouldn’t actually get cooler than 73 despite the thermostat saying it was. That said, it’s in a decent location relative to the capitol, parking is free, breakfast is included and the rooms are decent size.

Springfield, Illinois doesn't get enough attention regarding the architecture one will see in the downtown area. The futuristic art deco extends itself to this property. This hotel is a tribute to the 60s and the era of the grand hotel. However this property is no museum piece. The rooms have been updated and are spacious. It's clean and you won't find easier parking in Springfield. With that said it is a very large property and with that do come the occasional trappings of maintaining all that. There were some issues with getting into my room because if a low battery on the door lock. I was also charged twenty dollars more than the Expedia price but as if writing have not had a chance to look into a resolution. Even so I would stay there again and would even take my family there. I wish the best to the owners in there continued efforts to keep a grand lady going.

HVAC did not work, and hotel staff knew but front desk still put us in the room. Maintenance personnel were unable to repair and did not fully understand the problem with HVAC (I was better able to diagnose than he was). Toilet was loose on base. Bath soap was in odd plastic containers instead of standard options. Overall felt like a very sub-par hotel property, and would not stay here again.

Springfield is a historic city. A lot of it is run down and the Statehouse Inn tries its best to keep up, but it’s at best a 3 star hotel. No pool. Room service is spotty. Breakfast has spoiled food. Fitness room has outdated equipment. However, Maids are very friendly. Staff is kind about everything. The hotel manager was fabulous. She works very hard. Bed was clean and cozy. Room was comfortable.

Location was good. Staff was helpful but the hotel was under staffed. No soap, shampoo, hairdryer, conditioner, mini fridge, only one tiny trash can in our 3 rooms. No one to wipe tables or refresh the food in the breakfast area. The hotel looked and felt neglected.

Disappoiting stay. Arrived at 5.30pm and room was not ready despite check in being earlier. Rooms in dire need of updating. Sofa bed uncomfortable. Complimentary breakfast non existent despite arriving at a reasonable time. Advised the staff but no extra items brought out. No one seemed to care or to be running the place. Definately not worth the price paid. Avoid this hotel and spend your money elsewhere. Intetestingly there was information on the walls of the hotel suggesting it had been restored, not sure where or when??!

I enjoyed that it was right across from the capital. The first room that we were in the bed was broken and the shower didn't work right. There was peeling paint on the ceiling and the walls in both rooms. Manager did give us a new room when we told him the bed was broke and shower did not work properly. Breakfast was included with our stay but when we went down for breakfast next morning there was no scrambles eggs or potatoes in the slow cooker so we ended up checking out and leaving to go find breakfast.
