Great stay at glacier lagoon. The hotel feels very luxurious from check-in to the rooms and dinner at the restaurant. The spa/hot tubs over look the coast line and were a welcome relaxation after a day of hiking and exploring. The staff was friendly, laundry service was appreciated, and the dinner was delicious.
First class hotel. Clean, modern and comfortable. Competent and helpful staff. Good restaurant. Very remote but convenient to SE Iceland’s glaciers and glacial lagoons. Best place I’ve stayed in several trips to Iceland.
We had an excellent 2 day stay in a beautiful hotel. We had 2 AMAZING dinners and the staff was top notch. The only complaint was the price, but of course, we knew it when we booked it, and it was the best choice in the area. We didn't utilize all of the amenities such as the sauna and the gym. They had an outdoor area off the bar, but given the wind and the cold temperature, it was unused. I tried once, but I could only stay out there for 2-5 minutes. I didn't notice outside heating, but that should be a consideration so that guests can enjoy the beautiful view from this area.
Hotel itself was nice but room was just ok. Blinds barely blocked out parking lot light and was incredibly noisy at night. It sounded like there was a washing machine above or below us that started to clean successive loads at 4am and kept us up. Lighting and outlets all poorly located. Check in staff was snarky. Wasn’t at all what we were expecting from a nice hotel. Breakfast not included.
I think while being extremely expensive, it is worth staying for at least one night. Having a really nice shower, warm cozy bathrobe, nice dinner and breakfast on our trip, was nice.
Very nice hotel. Great amenities (hot tubs, sauna, etc.). This hotel is far enough away from everything that you can sit in the hot tubs and gaze up at countless stars. If you drive about 15 minutes down the road, you can find a safe area to pull over into and see the Milky Way on a cloudless night. The food was top notch as well!
Had ocean front view 2nd floor with huge panoramic view of sheep, and expansive miles of acreage. Ocean, in the distance.
The waterfall within a few hundred feet is also lovely. Food is very good and very expensive.
A luxury hotel in the middle of nowhere. There is not even a restaurant or mini-market close by. When you travel to this park of the country, you are in the wilderness as expected. The ambience of the hotel is top notch. Hotel has a nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was good. I am glad that Fosshotel has just a nice hotel in this remote area.
