The Western Territory Ski Lift passes by our deck just before it reaches the top. We are beside CUPP RUN and SHAY'S REVENGE SKI SLOPES but all of the slopes connect. The Chalet features two natural stone, wood burning, fireplaces, one on each floor. Living room areas are on both the first and second floors. Both with large flat screen TV's on the walls, stereo systems and DVD players. The Chalet has two full kitchens and 2 dining areas, one on each floor.
6 bedrooms, 4 baths, and 2 laundry rooms.
This is just about the only house that you can see from any lift at Snowshoe. The village is a 4 minute ride on the shuttle, it operates from 8AM. until 1AM. There is plowed parking for 8 cars in our driveway in front and on the same level as the house. We always have plenty of firewood to make this a wonderful experience.

Great communication! Beautiful views. Property needs a little work. Decent for the $$
The owner is very communicative and very nice. The location and views are fantastic. The downstairs condo plumbing needs updating. The toilet kept overflowing. The stone stairs has a top loose step that needs repaired, elderly person almost fell. The upper deck railing needs repair. This is a good place for the money and has the potential to be amazing.

Awesome house and location!
Me and a group of friends rented this place out for spring break and it was amazing. The house was super clean upon arrival and included many amenities. The house is also located about a 2 minute walk to the ski slope which was a huge plus. Also you can’t beat the view of the sunset on the front porch. The owner Phil is super friendly and easy to get in contact with if needed. Me and my friends will definitely be planning a trip back up here soon.

nice house on the slope
Spend a few days with family here and we really enjoyed our stay. The location was awesome with free shuttle service to anywhere on snowshoe property and was even able to get the shuttle to silver creek at night to take the kids tubing. The house had everything we needed, but I have to say my favorite was sitting by the fireplace and looking out over the mountain tops at the breath taking views.Host had plenty of firewood and even had someone come shovel the porches when we received snow. I would stay here again.

Great overall experience
Our group of 13 adults had a great experience. Not a fancy place, but accommodated us very well. Love the wood-burning fireplace. The views, the shuttle system the den area to hang out in. Did not like that the first and second floor not connected.. Had to go outside to get upstairs. missed not being able to walk to the village. good communication with the owner.

Great Location
Enjoyed the stay in the house. The address given was not available on Google or Apple Maps. The Google address put the location at the entrance of South Westridge. The location is actually at the end of South Westridge next to the Western Ridge Chairlift. This created some confusion as we checked in and the sun was going down. The shuttle service provided by Snowshoe is excellent and will drop you right at the door, The house is a bit dated but everything was very clean and easy to use. Ample firewood for a fire every night and the beds were comfortable. We had 13 total and were all very comfortable. Had some issues with the dryers. The downstairs dryer was not operational and the upstairs dryer took quite a while to get the clothes dry. Small issue when looking at the whole week.

Cozy Ski Chalet
Really cozy ski chalet property right next to the slopes in Snowshoe West Virginia. The property is as advertised but a little nicer than the pictures show. The amenities really make the your stay like home. Two beautiful fireplaces with plenty of wood, a grill, fully loaded kitchens and a shuttle bus to take you everywhere you need to go. The property is far enough away from other places you feel like you are alone in the woods. The house is also right next to a black run on the mountain. So you can ski right up to the house. Phil the host is really easy to work with and was really willing to help ensure we had everything we needed. Make sure you grab groceries in Petersburg as there is nothing around Snowshoe.

Location, location, location!
Location, location, location! I should preface this review by saying that we are seasoned Snowshoe visitors, having stayed at properties in a variety of places on the mountain. However we are summer only visitors as our interest is in the mountain biking opportunities, and world cup races. So I cannot comment on anything snow related, however for a summer visit, particularly for mountain bikers, the location of his property is absolutely perfect. I’m not sure there are any other homes that offer the space or convenience of this one. There is ample covered outdoor space for bicycles on the bottom porch, and on the upper floor rear deck, the top floor living space is perfect for large groups. We had five couples and two children and were all able to eat and socialize comfortably. The upper floor kitchen has been recently updated, and it is very convenient having two kitchens when preparing food for a large group. The shuttle comes within about 10 minutes of calling for it, and we never had to wait more than five or 10 minutes in the village to get the shuttle back, for those in our party who did not want to hike up the 1/4 mile to the village. The house does have some of the usual wear and tear that should be expected with a rental property in a harsh climate, but the location and value for money far outweigh any minor cosmetic issues.

Military reunion at Snowshoe
Its a beautiful location. I was really appreciative that the homeowner was so accessible to us. From a service standpoint, he was awesome. Although the size of the home was "as advertised", it may have made a difference in our choice of home if we knew that it was necessary to leave the house to go from upstairs to downstairs. This property is really a duplex. The second thing to note is that there is no air conditioning in the upstairs. Thats also where you'd spend most of your time. This wouldn't be an issue most months, but proved to be in summer. We had to leave doors and windows open. This was not ideal because with no screens on doors it windows we had all kinds of flying insects inside. Especially at night when the lights were on. The house was clean, but spider webs were present upon arrival. It appeared that the home had not had guests for a while. Sheets and towels were provided and clean. We did have to clean both grills before using. The showers were great. Plenty of pressure and very hot. Overall, the house grew on us.

January Ski Trip
Great property with lots of space and plenty of beds. Only concern is that the stairs to get from the first floor to the second floor is outdoors, which can be a problem if you have small children. This was not listed on the online profile and came to us as a surprise. Location is fantastic with on-call shuttle service to take you around the mountain. Would stay again.

White Christmas
We had a fantastic time at the chalet, including several inches of snow on Christmas. Location was convenient; shuttle was fast and efficient. One of the family lost a work cellphone on a shuttle; it was found and returned to the chalet immediately. In 25 years of family trips, this was a favorite. The owner was the most responsive of any place we have ever rented. Oh yes, the view was breathtaking!

We arrived at dark. It was raining and foggy. The property address was not marked. There was no phone or internet service. We were unable to contact anyone who could help us to find the place. By God’s good grace, two men (angels) helped us to find the house. Once we got into the property we had great accommodations. Beautiful view and internet.

Good location and decent house but really two units and needs some maintenance
First off this house DOES have a very nice location. Right off of the Western Territory trails and not far from the village. Views are great (when not socked in with clouds), and set back far enough that things are not too busy. We had a good time, were comfortable in the living space and TVs worked fine for evening movie watching, etc. But many features of this property are old, worn or just plain broken. I have stayed in a few other condos at Snowshoe and so far this is typical. I don't know if there are not any "nice" places up there but compared to what you get out West I have not found them... Some details: - It is never mentioned in the listing but this is really two "condo units" in one building that are completely separate with only an OUTSIDE stairway between them. This is not a huge deal but when it is raining or snowing going outside (possibly in the dark with almost no lighting on the stairs) to visit with your friends/family on another floor is less than ideal. - The upstairs kitchen is in great shape, very newly renovated and quite nice, although not really big enough for the total number of people that the building can sleep. The downstairs kitchen is in bad need of a renovation with a very old stove, counters, etc. and older fridge. - There are multiple things that need maintenance, doors without latches (handles but no latch at all), many windows with open/close crank mechanisms totally missing, old bathroom fixtures, etc. We had a fine stay and enjoyed ourselves but don't expect top notch accommodations here...

#49533 Review
The physical location of the property is not accurately listed, which made it difficult to find during the day, and impossible at night. The house itself is comfortable and well-situated with an exceptional view. It has a cozy feel to it. The setting is both peaceful and beautiful. The house is a bit run-down, with doors that don't open properly (one interior door had a hole punched in it). The heat was left on making the house quite hot, with no guidance on whether or not we could adjust the temperature. The appliances are functional though a bit old. The beds were not very comfortable, and are more suited to a cheap hotel. The fireplaces worked well, and there was an ample supply of firewood. Brochures on nearby attractions were old and tattered, with some pages torn out.

Nice place for summer get together
IN normal times, I get together with 4 other college buddies (now all middle aged!) for several days of peak bagging in Colorado. With the pandemic no one wanted to fly -- so we agreed on WV for some fun. This house was quite nice -- we especially appreciated the fact that at 4800' of altitude, the nights cool off quite quickly. Great star gazing (saw the comet during our stay).

Amazing sunsets!
We had a great trip! Every employee at Snowshoe was kind and joyful. The shuttle bus drivers were quick and helpful. All the comments on the house were spot on. We came prepared for the outdoor stairs and didn't have any problems. We preferred hanging out upstairs in the more updated area. And the first floor was more of a catch all for our ski clothing etc. Having 2 refrigerators for 2 large families was perfect! The fireplace and chopped wood was a special treat. Phil was always quick to respond to every email and phone call. The kitchens could use better pans, but if I had asked for some, Phil probably would have brought us some. The house was unique to us in having separate thermostats in every room. Which worked very well for the various people staying. Some of us prefer our bedrooms cool at night and others prefer them hot. Everyone got what they wanted. We would have LOVED a boot warmer for our ski boots, hopefully Phil will add that to his house in the future. We had a great time!

Perfect for a large group
Communications were easy and responses quick from the host (Phil). Its a great layout for a crowd. With 2 full kitchens and living areas, there’s plenty of space. The whole crowd of 20 (and a few guests) fit comfortably in one living room to watch the Super Bowl. The location right off Shay’s was great for skiers, and there’s an easy shuttle service to other areas convenient. I expect that we’ll be back!

Great Location
This was a great place to stay that is just steps away from the Western Territory slopes of Snowshoe. Three families with children of varying ages shared the space and we enjoyed ourselves very much. We had our doubts about the promptness of the shuttle but we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly it came every time we called. If you cannot ski black diamond slopes then skiing out from the property is not a great option, but once again the shuttle is convenient to the village. Cons are that the downstairs and upstairs living spaces are separate so one has to go outside to go between what amount to two distinct apartments. Most people will want to be on the upper level since it has a wonderful open kitchen/great room layout. If you are two families that want to keep separate there are kitchens on both levels so that might be a plus but for us it was a minor inconvenience. Decor is a bit dated but everything was clean and functional. A few in my party were disappointed there were no wine glasses - pouring wine into a pint beer glass leads to a tipsy evening! Hauling the trash to the end of the lane (you need to take your car) is a bit of a pain but manageable. Owner is very accessible and responsive - we grilled (I guess not common during winter) and the propane tank was empty so we had to get a new one but the owner promptly reimbursed me for the trouble. Overall I think this is an outstanding place to stay for any large group looking to ski Snowshoe.
