Unclean, outdated, misleading, good view
Overall, very disappointed with this stay. Way overpriced for what we got. Pros: View of Mt Washington In central Oregon, always a lovely area Property is located in a quiet area The Black Butte restaurants had decent food, though a limited menu Bed was decent Fast customer service Cons: NOT clean and rather disgusting. Dust everywhere, on shelves, handles, under furniture, large clumps of dust coming out of the AC unit when turned on. We had an 8 month old baby and what do they do at that age? They crawl around on the floor, so we were extra disappointing things were so dirty. Stains and drips on walls, dirt stained showers, etc. Vrbo checked in with us the first day but did not offer any remedy for the dirty state of the property. We were provided the wrong code for the key lock box by Vrbo. Luckily I had cell service and was able to reach a representative quickly who gave us a new code, but we still had to stand out in the heat after a long drive. This property is marketed as "private" and secluded. It's not really. It's closer to other houses than we was led to believe. There is some space between them, but not enough to be private. No private hot tub, shared with a lot others. Black Butte resort is over priced, main pool is overcrowded, the one pool that was in walking distance from the house was often closed. This house was not centrally located near the Black Butte amenities. Overall, much more of a stressful vacation than what we had been looking forward to.

Great House but Fire Season is a Gamble
Here are some details that some might find helpful from my August stay: This house has a single mini-split in the living room that is the only cooling source for the home. For the most part we were able to place the provided fans strategically around the house to move air. The loft stays pretty warm, even with fans. Opening the window at night wasn’t a great option up there because the screen had holes (bugs/moths came in). We used cold washcloths at night for my kids to be able to fall asleep. When intense wildfire smoke blew in, it found ways into the house (we were sure that all doors and windows were closed, but there must be other ways it got in). We woke up one morning coughing and the house was hazy inside from the smoke. I bring this up because if wildfire smoke blows through, staying inside to wait it out may not be an option for you depending on your smoke tolerance. We ended up leaving early because my family couldn’t handle the level of smoke inside the house. We had burning eyes/throats and my kids couldn’t stop coughing. If you are concerned about cooking with scratched teflon I’d recommend bringing some pans, but there was a great cast iron pan in good shape and a well-stocked spice cabinet. If you make smoothies I’d recommend bringing your own blender. Beds were comfy and the shower water pressure was good! All in all, I would definitely visit again outside of fire season. It is a lovely house. It’s just a gamble during fire season.

This cabin has a really pretty setting with views of mountains and horse pasture.
Great deck, bright and light inside, and open floorplan. My extended family rented 4 cabins on resort. Our cabin was smaller, but my favorite because of views, wrap around deck, and more private. The other cabins were dark inside. The only thing I wish the cabin had were bikes because you can get anywhere in resort on bike paths.

Beautiful view and true to the pictures.
We had a wonderful stay at Black Butte. The view of the mountain and meadow was spectacular for our morning coffees and evening beverages. We had easy access to bike paths and we’re close enough to both main pools to ride our bikes there. There were no surprises in how the lodging looked. The loft bedroom upstairs was perfect for the kids and both sets of parents had a comfortable private room. The bathrooms were small but true to what was advertised in the images. There were some areas that clearly hadn’t been dusted for a while but the beds, towels and main area were clean. Great for a dog friendly home.

Summer Stay in the Pines
The property has a nice, open feel and stays cool under the shade of towering pines Even in 100 degree weather. The view out over pasture to a majestic focus on Mt. Jefferson is lovely. The accommodations are simple, but comfortable and well above rustic. We were moderately uncomfortable with the level of cleanliness. There was some blood on the top sheet of the back room and evidence of mice under the kitchen sink. But, we had personal sleep sacks and just stripped the bed and avoided rummaging into cupboards. A very enjoyable stay. Great location surrounded by an abundance of quality activities and day trips. Thank you.

Amazing Mountain View
The view of Mount Washington (I believe) is absolutely amazing from this home. We really enjoyed filling the bird feeder each day and sitting out on the back deck enjoying the beautiful Mountain view and the watching the birds and squirrels.

great little place
This place was great for us. We where pleasantly surprised by the amazing view of the meadow and MT Jefferson in the background. It was great to sit on the deck or out the kitchen windows and see the great view. The open layout and large windows help to have an larger house feel. Dog friendly as well. I would stay there again.

House was great! BBQ didn’t work. Most disappointing thing was all the hidden fees from VROB
The house was through Vacasa, wish we knew and we would have rented through them and saved on the VROB fees!

Great house, great value
My family of four plus our dog had a great stay in this house. It is located in a quiet cul de sac, with an amazing view of Mt. Jefferson from the back deck. Also just a short bike ride (.5 miles) to the Paulina pool, our favorite. Would definitely come back again. Only thing that would make it better is replacing the mattresses.

Nice clean tidy cabin.
If your goal is to take advantage of black butte area and not have the nicest possible cabin then this is your place. Great view off deck and really good location on the ranch. Some of our friend stayed in much nicer places but the reality is none of us spent much time at our places. The outdoors is why you go there. Clean, efficient and peaceful all describe this place.

You may not get what you pay for...
First off, I highly Black Butte Ranch as a family vacation destination! We enjoyed riding bikes through the ranch, swimming and relaxing at the pools, and just hanging out at the house. If you have not been to Black Butte Ranch recently be sure to check out the Lakeside area. Regarding the house... Pros: Good location with amazing views of the meadow and Mt. Jefferson. Plenty of space for our family of four. Nice outdoor deck. Instruction where clearly placed around the house. Cons: The cleanliness of the house was good but not great. Internet was spotty. The outdoor trash was full when we arrived. The bed in the master bedroom was not really comfortable, it felt cheap. Our reservation included two adult bikes however upon our arrival we learned that the owner had recently decided to stop providing bikes. This was a big inconvenience for us in terms of time and stress and we ended up needing to pay to rent bikes from Black Butte Ranch. Half of our cost was refunded by the owner but this entire situation was unacceptable. As much as I was hoping to return to the same house on our next visit I think we will look for another house to rent.
