We came to Skhoder for the first time for a friend’s wedding. We booked a deluxe room so we could have a balcony. The wedding was on a Wednesday and we stayed up very late and put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door so we could sleep in. At 10:45 we had a knock on the door. It was the maid who apologized and said “reception” in Albanian. When the receptionist called us, she told us she needed to ask us to change rooms because they needed our room. I told her we booked it 2 months ago. She said it was okay because she would upgrade us to an apartment and not even charge us more! Wow. I was hungover and our room was a mess and she wasn’t even going to charge me to clean it all up and move. I asked why she couldn’t use the apartment for whatever they needed our room for. She said it was for the “ministry” and they were having a meeting and needed us out before 3:00. I wasn’t happy, but we got our stuff together and went to the other room. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have done it, but I was trying to cooperate since I’m not familiar with Albanian customs.
The new room did not have a balcony, nor any air conditioning, so I said it wasn't acceptable. So they put us in a small room with a balcony and a leaky shower. The management never offered to reduce the charges, or compensate us in any way. I would not recommend this property.
